The Teaching Department of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of the Department of Applied Psychology, the Department of Law, and the Department of Physical Education. It is a member unit (school) of the UNESCO Bioethics Education Promotion Agency. There are Yantai Research Institute of Medicine, Health and Medical Law, Laishan Psychological Consultation and Guidance Center, and Judicial Appraisal Center of Binzhou Medical University. The school undertakes the teaching and research of public courses including health law, medical psychology, college students' mental health, and physical education for the whole university. The school has one bachelor program of applied psychology and two master programs of medical psychology and applied psychology, which are the construction program of specialty schools for the cultivation of applied talents in Shandong Province and the dual-degree education program approved by the Provincial Department of Education.


There are 41 faculty members, including 33 full-time teachers and 10 teachers with doctoral degrees or post-doctors. The school has invited famous experts, such as Yue Weihua, vice dean of Peking University Sixth Hospital, Professor Hu Jinsheng, dean of the School of Psychology of Liaoning Normal University, and Yang Bo, doctoral supervisor of criminal psychology at China University of Political Science and Law as guest professors and has build a high-ethics, professional and energetic faculty team.


The Department aims at cultivating practical talents with solid foundation, innovative spirit, strong practical ability and high comprehensive quality to promote students' all-round development. Through special activities such as the undergraduate supervisor system, Humanities Youth Forum, Mental Health Activity Month, a good educating atmosphere has been created, and gratifying educating effects have been achieved. In recent years, students have won the first prize in the provincial college student peer psychological counseling skills competition and the moot court competition, and have also won excellent results in the provincial comprehensive quality competition. Among the graduates, more than 300 graduates were admitted to Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other well-known universities and research institutions. Nearly 200 graduates were admitted to selected graduates, civil servants and public institutions, and more than 10 participated in the volunteer service program in the western region. The graduate employment rate remains above 95%.
