Wining Excellent Results in the First Teachers and Teaching Innovation Competition in Shandong Province

On July 9, Shandong Provincial Department of Education issued the Notice on Announcement of the Winners of the 2021 Teachers and Teaching Innovation Competition for Universities in Shandong. Teachers from Binzhou Medical University (BMU) won one first provincial prize, two second prizes, and one third prize, and BMU won the Outstanding Organization Award.

This competition is the first teacher teaching innovation competition held in Shandong Province. According to the professional and technical positions of the teachers, the competition was divided into three groups: the senior group, the deputy senior group, and the intermediate and below groups. The competition was consisted of two stages: the university-level preliminary contest and the provincial finals. The provincial finals also had two sections: online competitions and on-site finals. 4,475 teachers participated in the school-level preliminary contest and submitted 1,427 works. After selection, universities recommended 329 works to the provincial competition. In the end, 100 teachers advanced to the finals. After fierce competition, a total of 15 first prizes, 30 second prizes, 55 third prizes, and 10 outstanding organizations were selected in this competition.

 

Five faculty teams from BMU participated in the provincial finals online competition. Four of them successfully advanced to the on-site finals. In the end, the team of Zhang Hongqin of the School of Basic Medical Sciences won the first prize in the senior group, and the team of Wang Qiaoyun of the School of Pharmacy (Wine School) won the second prize in the senior group, the team of Yang Yue of the School of Basic Medical Sciences won the second prize in the intermediate and below group, and the team of Shi Lei of the School of Basic Medical Sciences won the third prize in the deputy senior group.

 

In the process of preparing for the competition, BMU's Academic Affairs Office closely combined the requirements of classroom teaching reforms to strengthen the student-centered teaching concept and  promote the curriculum team to implement innovative teaching reforms through various innovative teaching and research seminars, exchanges and special report meetings, such as “Benevolence and Proficiency: Questions and Opinions”. They organized and carried out three levels of teaching innovation competitions, including the senior group, deputy senior group, intermediate and below groups. By doing so, BMU promoted teaching by competition and competition by training and encouraged more professors to conduct teaching for undergraduates. After the university-level finals, judges of the university-level competition and outside experts were invited to give targeted preparation guidance to teachers participating in the provincial competition.
