The School of Pharmacy was established in August 2007. In May 2018, the School of Wine was merged into the School of Pharmacy, which was then renamed the School of Pharmacy (School of Wine).

Focusing on the goal of talent cultivation and setting undergraduate education as fundamental, the School of Pharmacy (School of Wine) promotes excellent undergraduate education through Four Ones, namely building ONE leading team with firm stance, close solidarity, and good style, finding ONE unique path of school-enterprise cooperation, pooling resources from the school, enterprises, and society, to create platforms of collaborative education, collaborative innovation and society service, adhering to ONE theme of consolidating the central position of teaching to cultivate excellent application-oriented talents and setting ONE goal of catching up with the level of pharmacy speciality in similar colleges and universities, and strive to be the first-class in the fields of pharmacy and bio-pharmaceuticals.
School Scale
There are 1,357 full-time undergraduates and 193 postgraduate students.
Subjects and Specialties
Currently, there are 4 graduate programs, namely Biology, Pharmacy (professional master’s degree), Science of Chinese Materia Medica (professional), biology and medicine (professional master’s degree) and 4 undergraduate programs, namely pharmacy (provincial first-class major), biotechnology (national featured specialty construction unit and provincial first-class majors), bio-pharmaceuticals (provincial first-class major), and Science of Chinese Materia Medica. The pharmacy speciality group is a key application-oriented construction project by self-financing in Shandong Province.
School Faculty
The school has 140 faculty members, including 112 full-time teachers, 36 professors, 39 associate professors, among which 103 have doctoral degrees, accounting for 92%. For individuals, 2 are selected into the National Talent Project, 1 enjoys the provincial Government Special Allowance, 1 selected into the Double Hundred Plan for Foreign Specialty in Shandong, 1 provincial master teacher. For teams, there are 1 national Huang Danian teacher team, 6 Youth Innovative Enterprise teams of Higher Education Institutions at provincial level, and 19 high-level teaching and research teams.
Teaching and Scientific Research Conditions
The School enjoys many teaching and research platforms, including 3 scientific research platforms at provincial and ministerial level or above, such as Prescription Effect and Clinical Evaluation Key Laboratory of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and 9 teaching and research platforms, such as Shandong TCM Modernization of Chinese Materia Medica and Development of New Formulations Key Laboratory of Scientific Research. What’s more, the School has 6 experimental teaching centers (GMP pharmaceutical technology, chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, bio-pharmaceuticals, Science of Chinese Materia Medica), covering an area of more than 7,000 square meters and more than 50 student practice bases in domestic well-known enterprises.
The School possesses a set of teaching, scientific research and pilot equipment valuing more than RMB 80 million yuan, including high-throughput screening, liquid-mass spectrometer, high-performance liquid chromatograph, supercritical extraction equipment, multi-functional granulating and coating machine.
Scientific Research
In the past five years, the School has undertaken 26 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 sub-project of National Major New Drug Creation Project, 1 provincial Major Scientific and Technological Innovation Project of Shandong Province, 1 Major Research Program Cultivation Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 provincial Self-Innovation Special Project, 6 special projects of the Yantai Integration Development Project of Schools and the Local, 4 Innovation Team Projects of Higher Education Institutions at provincial level, 41 Provincial Natural Science Foundation Projects, 6 provincial key Research and Development Projects. The School has gained 97 scientific research awards, among which 18 are above department and bureau level, Including 2 second prizes of Shandong Science and Technology Progress Award, 4 first prizes and 4 second prizes of Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award of Higher Education Institutions at provincial level. What’s more, the School has produced over 200 SCI-indexed papers and gained more than 40 authorized patents. The total funding for scientific research amounts to more than 80 million yuan.
Advantages and Features
With the strong support of Yantai Pharmaceutical Market, the School gives full play to the three advantages of medical background, talent team and interdisciplinary and adheres to the road of production-education-research-application integration and special development of school-enterprise cooperation. The School together with more than 50 enterprises who has established the council of the School of Pharmacy, will jointly create three platforms of “collaborative education, collaborative innovation and social service”, and continuously improve the ability to serve the new and old kinetic energy conversion in Shandong Province.
The School has co-founded Xianglong Pharmaceutical Research Institute with Xianglong Enterprises, and established a GMP standard laboratory in the School, which laid the basis to the establishment of the key laboratory of Prescription Effect and Clinical Evaluation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Besides, the School has cooperated with Xianglong Pharmaceuticals to build Shandong TCM Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Development of New Formulations Key Laboratory of Scientific Research and Yantai Diabetes Targeted Drug Engineering Technology Research Center. Moreover, the School has jointly established Yantai Stem Cell Research Institute with Yantai Zhenghai Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The School has jointly established the New Drug Technology Development Center with Shandong International Biotechnology Park to construct the National Torch Yantai Marine Biology and Pharmaceutical Featured Industrial Base and Shandong Marine Biological Functional Molecular Application Engineering Laboratory, undertaking 1 major scientific and technological innovation project in Shandong Province (RMB 5 million yuan) and the project of “Precision Medical Molecular Detection Technology R&D Center” (RMB 5 million yuan) for the integration development of Binzhou Medical University and Yantai City.
The School, together with Rongchang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Has undertaken 1 national major New Drug Creation Project in the 13th Five-Year Plan, 1 provincial major Special Project on new drug creation, and 1 provincial Special Project on Self-Innovation and Achievement Transformation. The School has undertaken Chinese Medicine Big Health Industrialization Platform project (RMB 5 million yuan) for the integration development of Binzhou Medical University and Yantai City.
The School has jointly established Rongchang Industrial College with Rongchang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and adopted “2.5+1.5 ” “Excellent Class” on “large-scale mammalian cell culture”, “3+1” pharmacy “Elite Class with the Peking University Shijia Research Center, "3+1" pharmacy "Green Bamboo Class" with Weigao Group, "Runzhong Class" with Runzhong Pharmaceutical, and "MEBO Class" with MEBO Group.
Student Training Quality
The employment situation of quality undergraduate graduates is promising. 40% of the graduate was admitted to the Graduate Schools of Peking University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Fudan University, etc. The School has establish long-term cooperation relationships with more than 50 enterprises, including Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, Rongchang Pharmaceuticals, Qilu Pharmaceuticals, Lunan Pharmaceuticals, and Kangyuan Pharmaceuticals, maintaining an employment rate of over 97%.
