The School of Marxism was established in 2016. Its predecessor was the Teaching Department of Ideological and Political Theory Courses. The School undertakes the teaching, research and discipline construction of political theory in the university. There are now teaching and research sections in Marxist principles, ideological and moral cultivation and legal foundations, Sinicization of Marxism, Outlines of Modern Chinese History, Situations and Policies, Literature and Art as well as Labor Education. The School has built a Provincial Humanities and Social Science Research Base of the Medical Humanities Research Center. There are 48 faculty members, including 10 professors and 11 associate professors. Among the faculty memebers, 11 teachers are doctors (including doctoral candidates), 1 teacher was selected as the cultivating object of the Ideological and Political Education Support Plan for Young and Outstanding Talents by the Ministry of Education, 2 teachers were selected as the Hundred Talents Project for theoretical talents in Shandong Province, 1 teacher was selected as an outstanding young and middle-aged ideological and political theory teacher in universities across the province and 1 teacher was rated as an outstanding ideological and political teacher in Shandong universities. In recent years, over 10 projects at provincial and ministerial level and above have been established, such as the National Social Science Fund and the Humanities and Social Sciences Program of the Ministry of Education, over 20 textbooks and monographs have been published and over 50 academic papers have been published in core journals. The School has won more than 20 Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, including 2 first prizes for outstanding achievements in social sciences in Shandong Province, 3 provincial and ministerial education reform projects, 1 first-class course in Shandong Province, and 2 Shandong Provincial School Ideological and Political Golden class.
