School of Basic Medical Sciences is located at Yantai campus of Binzhou Medical University, which is one of the Top Ten Livable Cities with beautiful scenery. It has 2 administrative offices, 12 teaching and research offices, 1 basic medical experimental teaching center and 6 teaching laboratories. The School has a master's degree in basic medical sciences, an authorized first-class discipline, 5 provincial key laboratories and 11 discipline research institutes.
The School has 170 staffs; including 128 teachers and 34 experimental technicians. There are 22 professors, 49 associate professors, more than 70 masters’ degree supervisors and 93 doctorates. The School is responsible for delivering undergraduate courses of more than 35 majors. With the goal of cultivating applied talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and beauty, solid foundation and strong practical innovative ability. As the goal, give full play to the overall advantages of teachers of basic medical disciplines, adhere to the teaching reform and research centered on students, the cultivation of autonomous learning ability as the main line and the purpose of improving quality. The curriculum integration reform with Organ System as the main line has made gratifying achievements, and gradually formed its own advantages and characteristic teaching.
The discipline courses of the university are complete, and the research contents cover all directions of basic medical sciences. Human anatomy and histoembryology, immunology, pathology and pathophysiology are provincial key disciplines. Medical Biotechnology (enhanced construction) laboratory, tumor molecular biology laboratory and molecular immunity and cell behavior laboratory are Provincial Key Laboratories of the university in the “12th Five Year Plan” and the “13th Five Year Plan” respectively. The laboratories of reproductive immunity, cerebral apoplexy and otological genetic diseases are the Provincial Key Laboratory of medicine and health. Over the past five years, the college has undertaken more than 130 scientific research projects at all levels focusing on national projects, with a scientific research fund of more than 35 million yuan, with more than 210 SCI publications, and won more than 40 scientific research awards at the department and bureau level and above.
