The School of Medical Imaging of Binzhou Medical University, inheriting more than 40 years of brilliant medical imaging teaching and research history is flourishing with unlimited vitality. The School currently has two undergraduate programs of Medical Imaging and Medical Imaging Technology, four postgraduate programs, namely Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine, Medical Imaging Technology, Radiology (professional master’s degree), Ultrasound Medicine (professional master’s degree) and Nuclear Medicine (professional master’s degree).
History
In 1974, the Radiology teaching and research office was established.
In 2003, the Department of Radiology was renamed the Department of Medical Imaging.
In 2004, the five-year undergraduate program of Medical Imaging was launched.
In 2005, the Medical Imaging Technology teaching and research section was established.
In 2007, the postgraduate programs of Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine was launched.
In 2010, Medical Imaging program was selected as a provincial-level featured program; the teaching team of Medical Imaging was approved as a provincial-level teaching team and jointly train doctoral students with Shandong University.
In 2011, Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine were approved as featured key disciplines in the 12th Five-Year Plan of Shandong province.
In 2012, the scientific research and innovation team of molecular imaging was selected as the outstanding scientific research and innovation team among institutions of higher education in Shandong province.
In 2013, the Molecular Imaging Laboratory was approved as Provincial Key Laboratory of Medicine and Health; the Medical Imaging program was selected as an application-oriented talent cultivation construction program for featured famous universities in the Famous Institutions of Higher Education Construction Project of Shandong Province.
In 2014, the Department of Medical Imaging was established, and medical imaging was approved as a key clinical discipline in Shandong Province.
In 2015, Research Center on Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Brain Function was co-established with Tianjin University;
In 2016, four-year undergraduate program of Medical Imaging Technology was launched; Medical Imaging and Medical Imaging Technology were approved as provincial high-level application-oriented key project construction speciality groups; a molecular imaging center was co-established with Xiamen University.
In 2017, the Laboratory of Molecular Imaging and Translational Medicine was approved as the provincial Key Laboratory; the Molecular and Functional Imaging was approved as the Shandong Collaborative Innovation Center of Institutions of Higher Education; an MRI Research Center was jointly established with the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 2018, Medical Imaging was selected as an industry project for the conversion of new and old kinetic energy of education services in Shandong Province.
In 2019, the Medical Imaging program was approved as a first-class undergraduate construction program in Shandong Province; the Medical Imaging Informatization Innovation Platform was approved as the Yantai Integration Development Project of Schools and the Local; the postgraduate program of Medical Imaging Technology was launched; an agreement on production-education-research and school-enterprise collaboration on talent cultivation was signed with Shandong Langrun Medical Systems Co., Ltd. and Shanodng Lerun Information Technology Co., Ltd.
In 2020, the School of Medical Imaging was established; it was approved as a demonstration collaborative innovation center for Institutions of Higher Education in Shandong Province.
In 2021, the School of Medical Imaging signed agreement of establishing "Yingrui Education Fund" with Shandong Dongyi Yingrui Technology Co., Ltd.
In 2022, the Medical Imaging Program was approved as a national first-class construction unit.

School Organization
The School currently has two teaching and research offices of Medical Imaging and Medical Imaging Technology, as well as a Medical Imaging Skill Training Center, undertaking the theoretical and experimental teaching for more than 1,100 undergraduates and postgraduates.
Faculty
The School has 123 professional teachers, including 16 professors and 36 associate professors. All staff of the School have postgraduate degree or above, including 22 doctors and 97 masters. Among all the staff, 3 are doctoral supervisors, 62 are master's supervisors. Besides, there are 1 provincial teaching team of Shandong Province and 1 excellent scientific research innovation team of Shandong University.
Scientific research
In recent years, the School has formed its features in the research of brain function and cognition, molecular imaging, etc., and has undertaken more than 30 teaching and scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including 10 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China and 20 provincial and ministerial teaching and research projects. What’s more, the School was awarded more than 10 provincial and ministerial teaching and research prizes, published more than 100 core journal papers, of which 70 are indexed by SCI and compiled more than 10 textbooks, among which Diagnostics Imaging was rated as the first-class textbook for general higher education in Shandong Province.
Teaching and Research Platform
The School has built a Virtual Simulation Experiment Center for MRI, CT, DR and other large equipment, a PACS Image Processing and Analysis Laboratory, and a Molecular Imaging and Brain Function Scientific Research Platform. So far, the School possesses a set of scientific research and teaching equipment, valuing RMB 185 million yuan, including 7.0T MR, 3.0T MR, 1.5T MR, dual-source CT, PET-CT, DSA, Small Animal Multispectral Tomography Photoacoustic Scanning Imaging System, Brain Function Audiovisual Stimulation System, Real-time Functional Magnetic Resonance Neurofeedback System, PACS Image Processing Workstation, MRI performance Detection Module, CT Performance Detection Phantom, CT Head Metering Module and Body Metering Module, QA Detection Box, X-ray and γ-ray dosimeter, CD/DR Digital Multi-function Image Detection Module, Fluorescence Photometer, UV-visible-fluorescence Enzyme Labeler, Nanometer Particle Size, Zeta Potential and Absolute Molecular Weight Analyzer.
Talent Cultivation
The School adheres to moral education and has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for the social health and medical fields and won praise from the society. Since 2009, 1,626 students has graduated and they have participated and won prizes in many national and provincial events, such as the National Medical Imaging Technology Practice Skills Competition, the National Smart Technology Application Competition for University Students, the National Medical Imaging Technology Forum for University Students, and the Shandong Physics Competition for University Students. The employment rate of Medical Imaging students is more than 95%, among which, the professional matching rate is more than 90% and 40% of those graduates who chose to further their studies were succeeded and many of them were admitted by Peking University, Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nankai University, Shandong University, Jilin University, Zhengzhou University , Suzhou University, Tianjin Medical University, Capital Medical University and other well-known domestic universities. The postgraduate entrance examination rate of medical imaging technology is nearly 40%. Graduates have successfully signed contracts with Shandong Cancer Hospital, Shandong Qianfoshan Hospital, Zibo Central Hospital, Qingdao Municipal Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical College, and First Hospital of Jilin University. Nearly 40% of graduates from Medical Imaging Technology were succeed and those who chose to work were successfully admitted by hospitals, such as Shandong Cancer Hospital, Shandong Qianfo Mountain Hospital, Zibo Central Hospital, Qingdao Municipal Hospital, Binzhou Medical University Hospital, Jilin University First Hospital and other grade A hospitals.
