From July 15 to 18, the 7th National Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and the Academic Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Informatics were held in Binzhou Medical University (BMU).
Meeting Venue
At 8:30, July 16, the conference opened. Chen Runsheng, the Chairman of the Conference and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhang Hongxiang, the Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering and Zhao Shengtian, President of BMU delivered speeches respectively at the opening ceremony. Professor Wei Dongqing from the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, School of Life Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University chaired the opening ceremony.
President Zhao Shengtian delivered a welcome speech.
In his speech, Zhao Shengtian first expressed congratulations on the smooth holding of the meeting on behalf of the University, welcomed all the leaders, experts and guests who came to the meeting during their busy schedule, and introduced the basic situation of the reform and development of BMU in recent years. He focused on the University’s development of new medical sciences, and relying on the advantages of clinical medicine disciplines to conduct new medical-industry cross-cutting explorations in the field of healthcare big data. He pointed out that with the theme of Organic Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Big Data, the conference would organize more than 100 academic reports such as keynote reports, specially invited special reports, oral reports, etc., to build cross-disciplinary exchanges between experts and scholars in related fields, forming an important communication platform of great significance to exchange research results, improve academic standards, expand cooperation areas, and further promote the development of bioinformatics and medical artificial intelligence. He hoped that the experts would provide more valuable opinions and suggestions, contribute their talents, and give guidance and help to the University's work. He said that the University will wholeheartedly serve the meeting and experts to ensure the success of the meeting.
Speech by Chen Runsheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
Academician Chen Runsheng delivered a speech in the form of online video to congratulate the convening of the conference and affirmed the high-quality communication platform provided by the conference. He predicted the development prospects of biotechnology and related industries in the 21st century, and expressed optimistic expectations for the bright research prospects of bioinformatics. He hoped that the participants would understand the importance of this academic conference, strengthen communication, strengthen liaison, attend the conference seriously, think positively, and turn the conference into a grand event of learning exchanges, unity and cooperation, and inspiring innovation.
Speech by Zhang Hongxiang, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering
In his speech, Zhang Hongxiang introduced the background and themes of this conference. He hoped that everyone would seize the opportunity and continue to do things to promote sustainable development and green development with the new achievements of biotechnology, and serve the health of the people, serve the regional economy, do a good job in the docking of science and technology, pay attention to the growth of young scientists, give full play to the innovative vitality of young scientists, and play their due role in promoting the development of biotechnology and bioindustry.

Academician Zhao Guoping from Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Pan Yi from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ji Qing from Chief Scientist of Sugon HPC, Professor Zhang Xuegong from Tsinghua University, Professor Peng Shaoliang from Hunan University, Shi Daochen, and NVIDIA Solution Architect and Data Scientist, respectively delivered their reports, based on Biomedical Big Data + Artificial Intelligence Opportunities and Challenges, AI in Bioinformatics and Medicine Challenges and Opportunities, Sugon's Proposals for Cooperation in the Bioinformatics Industry, Exploring the Paradigm of Machine Learning Knowledge Discovery from Single Cell Data, Blockchain-based Biomedical Big Data Sharing and Intelligent Mining, and NVIDIA GPU Accelerated Scientific Computing, with the content aiming at cutting-edge fields such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, bioinformatics, blockchain, and biocomputing, and therefore making in-depth interpretation of the innovative development trends of scientific research and industrial development, and having a positive guiding role in broadening academic horizons and expanding thinking logic.

According to the conference agenda, 11 sub-forums were held from the afternoon of July 16 to the afternoon of July 17, and academic seminars were held on topics focusing on "High-throughput Sequencing and Big Data Research in Omics", "Artificial Intelligence Methods in Protein Structure Prediction and Design", "Accurate Medical Big Data and Medical Bioinformatics", "Pharmacogenomics and Chemoinformatics", "Bioinformatics in Animal and Botany, Agronomy, and Horticulture", "Biocomputing, DNA Information Storage and RNA Structure Prediction", "Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Medicine", "High-throughput Sequencing and Big Data Research of Omics", "Gene Expression, Regulation Big Data and Molecular Evolution", "Precision Medical Big Data and Medical Bioinformatics", "Special Topics on Cancer Big Data", etc. Scholars and listeners from nearly 100 universities and research institutes across the country carried out in-depth academic exchanges and discussions, sorted out and summarized the frontier issues, theoretical foundations, and applied countermeasures in the subject area, and put forward theoretical ideas and suggestions.

During the conference, the participating experts and scholars visited the Medical Research Center of BMU, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on academic research and clinical development with some experts from the First School of Clinical Medicine (Binzhou Medical University Hospital) and the Second School of Clinical Medicine (Yantai Affiliated Hospital of BMU).
More than 100 experts and scholars from nearly 100 universities and research institutes, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Renmin University of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tianjin University, Nankai University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Tongji University, Shandong University, West Lake University, Hunan University, Central South University and Binzhou Medical University, and people in charge of relevant schools and departments of BMU attended the meetings.
The conference was hosted by BMU and Shanghai Jiaotong University, the Chinese Society of Bioengineering, and the Chinese Society for Interdisciplinary Science. The theme was Organic Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Big Data, covering the most cutting-edge topics in the field of computational biology, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, biomedical informatics, highly academic and innovative. The event plays an important role in promoting Chinese bioinformatics academic research, academic research in related professional fields, and the development of related industries.
