I. Profile

Medical Biotechnology Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as the "Laboratory") is a key and strengthened laboratory of universities in Shandong Province during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period. Human Anatomy and Histology and Embryology was approved as a master's degree authorization discipline in 2003, was graded a key discipline of Shandong Province during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period in 2005, and was approved as a strengthened engineering construction discipline within the framework of key discipline by Binzhou Medical University in 2008. In 2011, it was approved as a discipline for Taishan Scholar Post and a provincial key discipline during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan by Shandong Province.

II. The Team

The Laboratory has a strong and well-balanced academic research echelon with a total of 43 personnel, including 6 with senior professional titles, 19 with deputy senior titles, 14 with intermediate titles, 25 with doctoral degrees, 15 with master's degrees, and 17 advisors to master candidates. Among them, there is 1 National Outstanding Teacher, 1 New Century Outstanding Talent by the Ministry of Education, 1 Famous University Teaching Faculty in Shandong Province, 1 Provincial-Level Young and Middle-aged Academic Backbone cultivating target, 1 Outstanding Young Intellectual in Shandong Province, and 1 Middle-aged and Young Key Scientific and Technological Talent in the Health and Medical System of Shandong Province. 1 young Taishan Scholar in Shandong Province, 1 Outstanding Postgraduate Advisor (II session evaluation) in Shandong Province, 1 Advanced Education Worker in Shandong Province, and 1 Professional and Technical Personnel with Outstanding Contributions to Binzhou City.

III. Academic Achievements

Integrating closely with the development of disciplines, two main research directions have been formed, i.e. research on the development mechanism of central nervous system diseases and research on regenerative medicine. The main research on the mechanism of the occurrence and development of central nervous system diseases includes: ① Nervous system damage and repair, and exploration on the local microenvironment, cytokine, gene expression changes after injury, and interventions such as electroacupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, stem cells, transplants and other interventions to repair damage and possible molecules mechanism. ②Glioma pathogenesis and targeted therapy, and exploration on specific oncogenes to regulate the occurrence and development of glioma, signal transduction mechanisms related to recurrence and metastasis, screen potential therapeutic targets for glioma, and theoretical base for the development of targeted drugs Base. Regenerative medicine research includes: ①Reproductive engineering and eugenics, exploring the therapeutic effects and possible mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cell transplantation on primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) and azoospermia, and mainly solving the current clinically low homing rate of stem cell transplantation in the treatment of reproductive system diseases, the therapeutic effect to be improved, and the mechanism of action unclear and other urgent issues to be resolved. ②Basic and clinical liver cancer, focusing on the development of new biological response modifiers from traditional Chinese medicine against liver cancer, and mainly screening single Chinese medicines, prescriptions and fungal extracts, and studying their immune-enhancing effects and mechanisms. Research focuses on intervention of tumor invasion, migration and angiogenesis, mainly through in vivo and in vitro experiments to explain the tumorigenesis mechanism mediated by related angiogenic factors and its relationship with tumor invasion and migration from the level of protein, cell, gene, etc., in order to provide new clinical treatments strategy.

In the past five years, 43 new scientific research projects have been conducted, with a total funding of more than 3.6 million yuan, among which there are 5 national-level scientific research projects, 25 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, and 2 horizontal projects, wining 2 authorized invention patents, 1 First Prize patent in Shandong Province, publishing 124 academic papers, including 51 SCI articles, winning 3 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards.

IV. Infrastructure

The laboratory has a total area of 560 square meters, including molecular biology laboratory, immunohistochemistry laboratory, morphology technology room, cell culture room and microsurgery operating room, etc. The total value of existing instruments and equipment is nearly 6 million yuan, of which 12 sets (pieces) of instruments are with a value of more than 100,000 yuan. Related experiments such as molecular biology, cell biology and immunohistochemistry can be carried out to ensure the smooth progress of various scientific research work.
