I. Profile
The Medical Humanities Research Center of Binzhou Medical University (BMU), established in June 2011, is a key humanities and social science base for strengthening the construction of the humanities and social science research bases in universities in Shandong Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. It has now formed an academic team led by professors and doctors and with reasonable age and knowledge structure, as well as high academic level. The Medical Humanities Research Base has three research directions: medical psychology, medical humanities education (special higher education), and medical ethics, and has the right to grant a master's degree in Applied Psychology.
In the past three years, the Center has undertaken a total of 70 scientific research projects including the Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Social Science Foundation, Shandong Soft Science, and Shandong Natural Science Foundation. The research funding has reached RMB 900,000 yuan, and the average annual funding is RMB 300,000 thousand yuan. It has published more than 130 papers and 19 books, and has successively won two Shandong Provincial Outstanding Teaching Achievement Awards, one Shandong Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, two Provincial Soft Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, two first prizes, eight second prizes, more than ten third prizes, and more than 40 awards granted by other departments and bureaus or above.
At present, the center is taking the construction of the Yellow River Delta Eco-Efficiency Economic Zone and Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone as an opportunity, focusing on medical and health reform, medical higher education development and the development of the pharmaceutical industry, and aims to better serve the local economic and social development, with the goal of producing results and talents, integrating resources, highlighting characteristics, and striving to build a first-class academic team.
II. The Team and Academic Achievements
There are 56 teachers in the Center, including 16 professors and 22 associate professors, accounting for 28.6% and 39.3% of the total number respectively. Among the full-time teachers, 10 have doctoral degrees or are PhD candidates, accounting for 18.7% of the total number.
Li Wenxi, former Deputy Secretary of the CPC BMU Committee, researcher fellow, Chairman of Shandong Social Law Research Association, member of the first group of Theoretical Talents Projects in Jinan. His main research directions are higher education management, youth social work, and university party building research. He has hosted and participated nine national, provincial and ministerial research topics such as “Research on the Alienation of Talent Screening Standards and Enhancement of University Students' Employability”, “Research on the Characteristics and Development Trends of Current College Students' Ideology”, “Research on the Mechanism and Development Path of Shandong Technology Enterprises' Independent Innovation Ability”, “Modes and Approaches: Contemporary Engineering University Quality Education Research”, and two horizontal projects, and has successively published 35 academic papers in journals such as “Research on Higher Education in China”, edited and participated in the editing of three textbooks, and one monograph, and won seven provincial and municipal scientific research awards.
Professor Bu Jianhua, Dean of the School of Marxism, and Director of the Office of the Social Science Union in BMU, is mainly engaged in moral and cultural research, and has been engaged in the popularization of social sciences and the promotion of social sciences for many years. He has presided over and completed two National Social Science Foundation projects, three Humanities and Social Sciences projects of the Ministry of Education, and 5 Provincial Social Science Planning Projects, and published more than 20 articles papers in core journals such as Chinese Youth Research and Dongyue Trubune, three of which were reprinted in full text by the National People's Congress newspapers and periodicals. The monograph Internet Nationalism and Political Socialization of Contemporary Youth won the first prize of Shandong Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award. In 2015, he was selected by the Ministry of Education's Ideological and Political Education Support Program as Young and Middle-aged Talents. In 2018, he was selected as a High-end Talent in the Think Tank of Shandong Provincial Government. In 2019, he was selected as a Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Shandong Province.
III. Infrastructure
The Center has two laboratories, more than 50 computers and other equipment, and 6 sets of teaching practice software, with a total value of RMB 1.5 million yuan. The Center has a total of 40,000 books and materials, including 20,000 Chinese books and 1,000 foreign language books, 92 types of professional journals and magazines, including 80 Chinese periodicals and 12 foreign language periodicals.
