Teaching Experiences
Prof. Li Defang has been engaged in undergraduate teaching since 2018, and currently teaches “Pharmacology” (including Herbal Pharmacology) and “Medical Research Methods and Dissertation Writing” for undergraduate Chinese medicine students. In the past five years, he has undertaken 174 hours of undergraduate teaching and taught a total of 1,208 students.
Scientific Research
As an academic leader, Prof. Li has set up a new anti-cancer target discovery and treatment innovation team, and has been successfully selected into the Training Program for Key Discipline Talent Team in Shandong Institutions of Higher Learning with a provincial funding of RMB 6 million yuan. In June 2017, he was selected as one of the Shandong Provincial Outstanding Young Talents, and in February 2018, he was selected as one of the Yantai Double Hundred Talent Plan Innovative Talents with a funding of RMB 2 million yuan. In November 2018, as the director of laboratory, he declared the Yantai Key Laboratory of Pharmacology of Chinese Medicine on Tumor Metabolism and received the approval. In September 2020, he presided over and declared the Innovative Platform for Coordination of Modernization and Industrialization of Local Chinese medicine, which was selected as the 2021 Yantai University-Local Integration Platform and received funding of RMB 1.29 million yuan. In the past five years, he has presided over nine projects, such as two general projects and one science project for youth of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and one project of the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong with total funding of more than RMB 15 million. He has published 72 academic papers including more than 50 SCI papers. And he, as the first author or corresponding author, has published 22 of the 50 SCI papers, which are in the journals such as “Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity”, “Frontiers in Oncology” and “European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry”. He has applied for more than 10 invention patents, four of which were granted.
Recognition and Awards
In the past five years, Prof. Li was awarded one first prize and one second prize of the Shandong Higher Education Excellent Scientific Research Achievements Award, the 15th Yantai Top Ten Outstanding Young Talent, and the 13th Youth Science and Technology Award of Binzhou. And he won the titles of Excellent Communist Party Member of Shandong Institutions of Higher Learning, and Positive and Kind-hearted Youth of Shandong in the New Era.
