Zhang Xiaoqing, PhD, Professor
Faculty Member of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Binzhou Medical University
Prof. Zhang focuses on the direction of Biomaterials and Tissue Regeneration.
Teaching Experiences
Prof. Zhang has been teaching a graduate elective course in proteomics and an undergraduate elective course in professional English writing.
Scientific Research
Being committed to the research of stem cell and vascular tissue engineering, Prof. Zhang has successfully established a co-culture system of monocytes, macrophages and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells based on polyurethane biomaterial scaffolds with immunomodulatory function, and used biological materials to regulate immune cells to promote vascular smooth muscle endothelium tissue regeneration. She has published more than ten high level academic papers (cumulative impact factor >50) in leading international biomedical materials and tissue engineering journals such as Biomaterials and Acta Biomaterialia, ACS Biomaterial Science and Engineering. She has joined as a major participant in a research project of the Canadian Institute of Health Research. Her in-depth research on stimulating the body's own immune cells (pro-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, and immune-regulating macrophages with different phenotypes) to promote vascular tissue regeneration has been generally recognized by peers at home and abroad, and has promoted cardiovascular tissue a big step forward in the field of regeneration. Her research on the use of polyurethane materials to regulate immune cells to promote the regeneration of vascular smooth muscle endothelial tissue has great prospects for clinical transformation and application in the future.
Recognition and Awards
Prof. Zhang has received Outstanding Doctoral and Postdoctoral Research Award of The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Outstanding Academic Conference Award of the Graduate School, University of Toronto, Outstanding Doctoral Research Award of Ontario, Canada, Barbara and Frank Milligan Outstanding Doctoral Research Award. She was titled as the Outstanding Scholar of the University of Toronto and was awarded the Governor General's Academic Medal from the Canadian federal government.
