Good News from Chen Yujiao, A Blind Student in BMU, Who Won Two Gold and One Silver Medals in the National Games of Disabled Persons

On October 22, 2021, the 11th National Games of Disabled Persons and the 8th Paralympics Games will be grandly opened.


On October 24th, the Blind Individual Figure Skipping Competition (women's group) was held in the Tongchuan Gymnasium, Shaanxi Province, with 11 players from all over the country took part in. Their smooth, beautiful and breathtaking movement were completed showed. Chen Yujiao, who is a first-grade student majored in acupuncture and tuina, won the national championship in the fierce competition of Individual Figure Skipping Competition, which brought this 20-year-old girl who is completely blind, to the national audience.

In the morning of October 25, Chen Yujiao took part in the Double Figure Skipping Competition. Chen and her partner won the silver medal by good teamwork and excellent performance.

In the afternoon of October 25, Chen Yujiao played in the Team Figure Skipping Competition. The wonderful, dazzling Figure Skipping performance, with a good teamwork, received continuous applause. It not only conquered the judges, but also deeply shocked all the audience.  The wonderful performance brought by Chen Yujiao's team made audiences all over the country once again focus their attention on this self-improving and tenacious girl, who is studying in BMU.


Chen Yujiao, female, from Dujiangyan, Sichuan, a student in the 2020 Acupuncture and Tuina Class of the School of Special Education. At the age of 12, she lost sight of both eyes due to retinal detachment. She started to learn skipping in 2013 and was selected to Sichuan Provincial Team in 2014. She has won the 2016, 2017, and 2018 national championships consecutively, and won the championship of Speed Figure Skipping of National Games of Disabled Persons in 2019.
