On December 1st, the Launching Ceremony of the China (Shandong)-Belarus Cooperation Meeting and Shandong-Vitebsk Sister Cities Cooperation Week was held in Jinan. The First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Nikolai Snopkov sent a video message. Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor and Yuri Schenko, Belarusian Ambassador to China attended the Ceremony and delivered speeches. Xie Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus and Nikolai Shelsteinev, Governor of Vitebsk Oblast delivered speeches online. Deputy Governor Ji Binchang presided over the event.
President Zhao Shengtian attended the Cooperation Meeting and signed a memorandum of cooperation with Anatoly Chasne, President of the Vitebsk State Medical University of Belarus, under the witness of Chinese and foreign leaders and guests. In this way, the two universities successfully established a friendly and cooperative relationship. Vice President Lyu Changjun and relevant people from the International Cooperation and Exchanges Office participated in the event.
In the following Shandong-Vitebsk Education Cooperation and Exchange Conference, Deng Yunfeng, Director of the Provincial Education Department, Yuri Shenko, Belarusian Ambassador to China and Cai Xianjin, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial Party Committee delivered speeches and initiated the establishment of the China-Belarusian (Shandong) Alliance on Education Cooperation. Attending universities from China and Belarus have conducted exchanges with each other. President Zhao Shengtian made a keynote speech titled Deepening Cooperation for Mutual Benefits and build a human community with shared healthy, which introduced basic conditions of Binzhou Medical University and its excellences and specialties, showing the main achievements of international cooperation and exchanges. He also expressed our willingness to conduct frequent exchanges and pragmatic cooperation with Vitebsk State Medical University and other Belarusian universities, actively participate in the Belt and Road Education Initiative, and jointly build the vision of a China-Belarus community with shared healthy.
Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) was founded in 1934. It is a medical university of higher education in Vitebsk, Belarus, ranking the second among Belarusian medical universities. Located in the capital of the Vitebsk, VSMU enjoys a long history and a beautiful environment. It was awarded the National Friendship Medal in 1984 and plays an important role in medical education of Belarus. VSMU has been recognized by various medical alliances, including WHO, UNESCO and those in the United States, Ireland and etc. The number of international students in VSMU ranks first among medical universities in Belarus.
