On the morning of December 31st, Academician Pei Gang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was invited to the “Benevolent Lakeside” Academic Lecture Hall and gave an academic report titled Introduction to Life Science and Medicine. Zhao Shengtian, President of Binzhou Medical University, Wang Guangcheng, Vice President of Binzhou Medical University, Liu Jianmin, Deputy Secretary of the Yantai Development District Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee, Zhao Ling, Deputy Director of the Economic Development and Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Yantai Development Zone, and Wang Weidong, Chairman of Rongchang Bio-Pharmaceutical (Yantai) Co., Ltd. attended the report meeting and listened to the report with more than 100 teachers and students.
At the report, Academician Pei comprehensively and systematically introduced the latest research progress in the fields of genome sequencing, proteomics, stem cells and regenerative medicine, epigenetics, brain-computer interface, organoids, and immuno-oncology. He made forward-looking explanation on new thinking, new methods, and new technologies in the field of life sciences. He encouraged the on-site scientific and technological workers to keep the original intention of scientific research, start from little things, work hard, find new ways and improve scientific research literacy to be practitioners at the forefront of science and technology bravely.
The inspiring report provided a comprehensive and multi-perspective academic feast for the participants in the field of life sciences and medicine, brought them to the academic frontiers in the field of life sciences and broadened their horizons. In the interactive session, teachers and students actively asked questions, and Academician Pei answered them one by one.
