On March 10, the Pharmacology and Toxicology discipline of our school entered top 1% of the ESI global rankings, according to the latest data of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database of Clarivate Analytics (from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2021). It has became our second discipline to enter the top 1% of the ESI global ranking after Clinical Medicine discipline, achieving an important breakthrough in discipline construction.
In terms of Clinical Medicine discipline, a total of 5426 institutions in the world entered top 1% of the ESI ranking. Our school ranked 2402, 5 places up, and the ranking percentage was 44.27%, 1.06% increased. There are 1318 papers included in the ESI database, of which 10 are high-level papers, with a total of 14,333 citations, an average of 10.87 citations per paper, and a disciplinary advantage index of 3.488.
In terms of Pharmacology and Toxicology discipline, a total of 1,097 institutions in the world entered top 1% of the ESI ranking. Our school ranked 1,071, with a ranking percentage of 97.63%. There are 397 papers included in the ESI database, with a total of 4,042 citations, an average of 10.18 citations per paper, and a disciplinary advantage index of 1.027.
In recent years, we have closely focused on the fundamental task of moral education of people and has achieved remarkable results in the formation of discipline echelons, the refinement of discipline directions, the development of academic research, the construction of discipline bases, and the cultivation of foreign exchanges, as a result of which, our discipline construction has reached a new level. The Clinical Medicine discipline is committed to the training of excellent doctors and the construction of new medical disciplines. It has opened the Academician New Medical Experimental Class, and has been selected as a first-class discipline and high-level discipline in Shandong Province and new and old kinetic energy conversion major for industrial projects. The Pharmacy discipline is a national-level characteristic specialty construction point, and has been selected as a “high-level discipline” cultivation discipline in Shandong Province. It actively serves the development of the regional biomedical industry, and adheres to the characteristic development path of industry-university-research-application integration and school-enterprise cooperation. At present, we has formed a discipline system with medical and pharmacy disciplines as its advantages, higher education for disabled persons and rehabilitation higher education as its characteristics, and multi-disciplinary disciplines, such as medicine, science, engineering, management, and education integrated and developed in a coordinated way.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we will continue to closely focus on the two main lines of connotation improvement and characteristic development, actively serve major national and regional development strategies, such as major projects of new and old kinetic energy conversion, rapidly improve the overall level of disciplines, and comprehensively enhance our core competition. It will inject strong impetus and provide strong support for the construction of a high-level medical university with outstanding advantages and distinctive characteristics.
