In the spring of 2022, when teachers and students were immersed in the expectation of the new semester, COVID-19 pandemic broke out in the cities including Laixi and Weihai in Shandong, which once again triggered the pandemic prevention and control alert. Under the careful deployment and unified command of the university CPC committee and the pandemic prevention and control leading group, all BMUers worked together and overcame difficulties to build a safety line and protect the campus from the pandemic.
Building a strong fortress against the pandemic
The university CPC committee attaches great importance to the prevention and control of COVID-19, and takes the prevention and control work as a top priority of the whole university. In the past few days, the university has successively held a series of special deployment meetings, informing the situation facing Shandong Province, Yantai City, as well as the university in terms of pandemic prevention and control, conveying the spirit of the pandemic prevention and control work conference in province and city level, improving the work plan, arranging the duties of various departments, to ensure that the pandemic prevention and control work is carried out in a disciplined manner.
By convening meetings, conveying documents and field inspection, close attention is paid to key parts and key links. Different measures were taken including the implementation of three inspections and two reports system, the establishment of healthy inspection records for everyone in the university to investigate the living place, physical condition and pandemic contact of all students and teachers, and strengthening of work shifts and security guarantee... During this period, university leaders took the lead and overall charge in the epidemic prevention.
On the evening of March 7, the university summoned 200 volunteers in different groups to assist medical workers to carry out a new round of nucleic acid testing, given full play to the key role of primary-level Party organizations and exemplary role of CPC members. By the afternoon of March 8, the university has completed the testing for more than 9,000 people.
Uniting strength to safeguard the battle against the pandemic
In the face of the pandemic, the entire medical staff of the university hospital stuck to their post day and night, and completed the nucleic acid tests with high quality. Under the heavy protective clothing, they constantly stared at computer screen to record information and repeated the movements of nucleic acid tests. But when they saw the smiling faces of teachers and students and received their encouragements, their efforts became worthwhile. The entire medical staff of the university hospital used their patience, care, and warm heart to protect the lives and health of all teachers and students of the university.
The Department of Assets Management coordinated through various channels and managed to purchase sufficient pandemic prevention supplies including surgical masks, surgical gloves, N95 mask, protective clothing and infrared temperature measurement system in time and provided computers, tents, tables and chairs and other materials for nucleic acid testing. Under the weak light, you can always see the busy figure of the teachers in the pandemic prevention materials warehouse ... they are working for the materials ready to be allocated, supplemented, and distributed.
The university entrance gate is the “first to bear the brunt” in the university’s pandemic prevention and control, for which the Security Department is responsible. Over 70 security personnel were distributed to different gates and other key areas to investigate weakness in control, refine management process and adjust campus control. All security personnel shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding entrance gate, protecting teachers and students, and stick to the guard post full time, fully armed with thermometer and register book. They are patient and enthusiastic, repeating the same words and operating the same actions. They strictly check and register for people, vehicles and supplies entering the camps, effectively cutting off unrelated personnel, personnel with abnormal body temperature or risky supplies from entering the campus and building the first defense for teachers and students in this special period.
In the face of the new situation of the pandemic prevention and control, the Department of Logistics Management is fully committed to guarantee works including campus disinfection and catering services, and shoulders double responsibility of pandemic prevention and guarantee. It strictly implements the procedure of raw material procurement and acceptance, strictly implements the university entrance procedure and so on to ensure the safety of the food. In the face of the demand of different people, the university canteen continues to adjust the meal services, and works full load to guarantee the food delivery for students in quarantine. Up to now, more than 25,000 quarantine foods have been distributed. At the same time, all canteens are operating normally with services like online ordering to guarantee the catering services for teachers and students in campus.
Standing fast to protect students
Since February 24th when students began to return to school, works like data collection, nucleic acid testing deployment, quarantine management and control and psychological counseling have been done by student affairs personnel for numerous times.
Student counselors charged in the front, stuck to their post online and offline, and practiced the mission of CPC members with their own action. Never will they retreat for the protection of their students. 82 student affairs personnel have fought on the frontline in the fight against the pandemic and showed us their perseverance, spirit and vitality.
The university relies on the student counselors to carry out instructions and solve problems. By making phone calls and using WeChat, student counselors are closely connected with the students and have in-depth communication with them. So that they can know the thoughts of the students, help them to relieve anxiety, try to solve their problems and add more confidence and strength to the students to overcome difficulties.
At present, all BMUers should make their best efforts to help with the pandemic prevention and control, and make sure everyone is safe and healthy.
