In order to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement on promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and promoting international youth exchanges and cooperation, Shandong Provincial  Government, the Chinese  Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the All-China Youth Federation and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation jointly held the International Youth Exchange Conference in the Golden Hall of Shandong Building on the morning of May 13th. More than 5,000 youth representatives, international friends and guests from all walks of life from 48 countries around the world gathered online and offline to share friendship, discuss cooperation and discuss the future. BMU organized more than 100 representatives of Chinese and foreign teachers and students to participate in the Conference online.

The Conference gave publicity to the fruits of 10 Chinese and foreign youth exchange and cooperation projects, including the Global Youth Partnership Program, the “Confucius of China and Wisdom of the World” boutique book series, and the International Youth Exchange Alliance of the Nine Provinces (Districts) along the Yellow River. The Yellow River Bay International Youth Economic Forum was held within the framework of the Conference, focusing on “New Pattern and New Economy”. The Conference aroused enthusiastic response among BMU students.

Liu Haijie, a 2020 undergraduate majoring in rehabilitation therapy, said, “ ‘Youth is the most sensitive barometer of the era who should undertake the responsibility of the era and whom the glory of the era belongs to.’ As said by General Secretary Xi Jinping, young people are vibrant, and full of vigor, constantly creating miracles. As the old saying goes, ‘Scholars must be courageous’. In a century of profound changes, we young people should have high aspirations and be down-to-earth. We should dare to think and act, connect exchanges among countries, and continue to be the guardian of national development and international peace!”

Zhao Yaxuan, a graduate student majoring in immunology of Class 2021, said, “I am very fortunate to participate in this International Youth Exchange Conference. I listened carefully to the speeches of the consuls and ambassadors at the conference, and was deeply inspired. As young people in the new era, only if we aim high, be loyal to our motherland, and set life goals, could we realize the ideals and values of life in promoting the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Besides, we must study diligently, strength our body and mind, and learn knowledge not only in books, but also in practice. ‘So today's responsibility is not others, but the youth’s.’ At present, the world is undergoing profound changes, and the direction of the world’s development depends on the youth. We must constantly improve our ability in face of the future and the overall situation of the world and we must have great ambitions, become great talents, and take on great responsibilities to write the best chapter for our youth with fearless struggle and dedication.”

NDUDUZO THEMBINKOSI HLOPHE, an international student majoring in clinical medicine of class 2018, said, “the International Youth Exchange Conference is well organized and significant in educating and enlightening people. If young people are taught how to develop themselves, the country will be better, and I think this is one of the key reasons for China to be amazing. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this Conference.”

AHIAFOR MAXWELL, an international student majoring in clinical medicine of class 2018, said that “I believe the Global Youth Conference is a timely reminder to young people that it is with the unremitting pursuit of previous generations that we can enjoy economic development and world peace, and we as young people have a responsibility to maintain and promote these hard-earned results. Fortunately, as young people, we have the knowledge, skills, creativity and energy to make innovative changes that benefit ourselves and future generations. I am honored to have the opportunity to hear the voice of outstanding people and leaders in various fields.”

With the theme of Youth Shandong, Sharing the Future, this International Youth Exchange Conference aims to build an institutionalized high-end platform for deepening exchanges between global youth, better leverage the power of global youth, promote the implementation of global development initiatives and security initiatives, and serve the community of mankind with a shared future.
