ISPO Audit on Prosthetics and Orthotics Programme in BMU Wrapped Up

On the afternoon of July 6, the ISPO Audit Meeting on Prosthetics and Orthotics Programme in Binzhou Medical University (BMU) was held at Room 315, Rehabilitation Training Center. M.S. Wong, Head of the ISPO Audit Expert Panel and Professor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), gave feedback on the audit online. Present were Zhao Shengtian, President of BMU, Zhang Yulong, Member of the CPC BMU Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC BMU Committee, heads of relevant departments and units of BMU, as well as leaders and professionals of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of BMU.

The expert panel spoke highly of BMU's results in developing the prosthetics and orthotics programme, thinking BMU had offered strong support for the sound development of the program and its students had performed well in skills tests, and pointing out the problems and deficiencies existing in program development. BMU will be notified of the final audit results after they are submitted to the ISPO Education Committee for examination, according to the panel.

On behalf of BMU, Zhao expressed heartfelt thanks to the expert panel for its responsible attitude, pragmatic style and scientific and rigorous spirit. Through the audit, BMU will accept the panel's feedback humbly, closely follow the new trends of international and domestic prosthesis & orthotics education, keenly grasp the new objectives and requirements of rehabilitation medicine and healthcare development, constantly improve talent training programs, optimize and integrate courses, update teaching methods, strengthen student ability training and improve the teaching quality monitoring system, thereby continuously improving the level of prosthesis & orthotics education and cultivating more high-quality, application-oriented talents for the development of rehabilitation assistive devices, he said.


The audit starting from June 1 has three sessions: June 1-2, June 6-7, July 5-6. Prof. M.S. Wong, Professor of PolyU, headed the expert panel. Prof. Anastasia Suci from Indonesia and Prof. Teppei Morimoto from Japan were panel members. By hearing reports, watching videos, holding seminars and assessing students, BMU's prosthetics and orthotics program was audited online in full process.

During the audit, by hearing the reports on BMU's general information, development plan, curriculum, teaching conditions, student admission, teaching strategies, teaching outcomes and clinical teaching, watching video presentations, holding online seminars attended by students, graduates, employers and patients, and assessing graduates' skills, the expert panel conducted a comprehensive assessment of BMU's prosthetics and orthotics program in such aspects as objectives of talent training, curriculum, faculty, teaching conditions, student development and operation ability.


The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) is the world's highest-level and most authoritative academic organization in the prosthetics and orthotics field. As an overall test of BMU's prosthetics and orthotics program, as well as an important opportunity for BMU to promote the reform and development of the program through audit, the ISPO audit is of great significance to promoting the high-quality development of prosthesis & orthotics and rehabilitation education.
