Hosted by the Department of Education of Shandong Province and the Health Commission of Shandong Province, organized by Shandong First Medical University & Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences and Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the 2022 Shandong Medical Technology & Skill Competition for College Students was held in Jinan from May 27 to 28, with the participation of 96 teams and 494 students from 16 universities in Shandong and one university outside Shandong.

Binzhou Medical University (BMU) sent 12 teams and 63 students led by Vice President Bai Xianyong for all the six categories of the competition. In the competition, they united as one, fought hard and stayed calm, fully demonstrating the solid intellectual foundation, superb practical skills and outstanding teamwork spirit of BMU's students, and achieving brilliant results in both competition and morality. Through intense competition, BMU came out top among similar colleges and universities in Shandong, with the stomatology team B grabbing the grand prize; the clinical medicine team A and the nursing team A/B claiming the first prize; the preventive medicine team B, the pharmacy team A/B and the TCM team B winning the second prize; and the stomatological teacher team earning the Outstanding Tutor Team Award.

As a high-end medical education competition characteristic of Shandong, the competition ran for more than two months and was divided into two stages: writing and practice. With six professional categories: clinical medicine, preventive medicine, nursing, stomatology, TCM and pharmacy, the competition is a comprehensive test of students' knowledge reserves, skills, clinical thinking, humanistic care and teamwork spirit.

BMU has attached great importance to developing students' practical ability. BMU's brilliant results in the competition fully demonstrate the substantial outcomes of BMU's practical teaching. The results are attributable to the competitors' hard training, the tutors' painstaking efforts, as well as the close cooperation between BMU and its affiliated hospitals. To achieve brilliant results in the competition, coordinated and organized by the Office of Practical Teaching Administration, the First School of Clinical Medicine, the Second School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Stomatology, the School of Nursing, the School of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the School of Pharmacy (Wine School) and the School of Public Health and Management selected excellent students for the competition through school-wide training. Strengths were pooled to provide all-round support for competitor training. The competition promoted learning and teaching, further increased BMU's degree of emphasis on medical technology and skill teaching, and played a driving role in deepening the practical teaching reform, renovating the medical practice teaching system and improving the training quality of medical talents.
