On Sep. 1st, BMU held the welcome ceremony for the new students of the 2022 Rehabilitation Therapy (Sino-foreign cooperative education). President Zhao Shengtian attended the welcome ceremony and sent a message to the new students. Gunnar Mau, President of the German University of Health and Sport, Franz-Michael Binninger, former President of the German University of Health and Sport, and Konstantin Beinert, Course Director for the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program of German University of Health and Sport attended the welcome ceremony online. Directors and Deans from the Academic Affairs Office, International Cooperation and Exchanges Office and School of Rehabilitation Medicine of BMU as well as teachers and all freshmen of the Sino-foreign cooperative education program attended the welcome ceremony.

In his speech, President Zhao Shengtian first extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the new students. He pointed out that in the context of globalization, the internationalization of education is the general trend, and it is also an important way for higher education to respond to the globalization development strategy and deepen talent training. Under the joint efforts of BMU and DHGS, the first 4+0 double-degree Sino-foreign cooperative education project was approved, which is a new achievement of the BMU's opening up policy and a milestone of great significance in the history of the BMU’s development. He hoped that the two universities will take this cooperation as a new starting point to carry out all-round cooperation in the fields of education and teaching, discipline construction, technological innovation, etc., and push the cooperation to a new height. He told the students that in their future study and life, they should strive to create a wonderful future with earnest, diligence, perseverance and innovation and grow into professionals with international vision, and messengers between China and Germany.

Gunnar Mau, President of DHGS, welcomed and congratulated the new students. He said that DHGS is very honored to cooperate with BMU to launch a Sino-German double-degree cooperative education program for rehabilitation therapy. This program has combined the advantages and distinct features of the education of China and Germany, which will better cultivate not only the students’ professional knowledge and vocational skills, but also their morality and integrity, and make students grow into high-quality inter-disciplinary rehabilitation talents with a strong sense of social responsibility, and make positive contributions to the cause of the health career. He is looking forward to in-depth and all-round cooperation with BMU to further complement each other’s advantages, share resources, and achieve win-win cooperation, so as to jointly promote the better development of the two universities.

Student representative Han Jingyu spoke on behalf of the freshmen. She said that they must live up to the expectations of the universities and their parents, cherish this international education platform, and strive to become a high-quality rehabilitation talent with both ability and integrity, international vision and innovative spirit.
