On August 19, the Education Committee of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) officially issued an accreditation certificate to Binzhou Medical University (BMU), valid for 3 years (2022-2025). This marks the prosthetic and orthotic engineering delivered by BMU has been approved as an ISPO-accredited prosthetist/orthotist training program.
ISPO is the most authoritative academic organization in the field of prosthetics and orthotics in the world. ISPO's education standards for prosthetics and orthotics have been formulated under the guidance of the World Health Organization and authoritative health experts from the global community. The accreditation under the standards falls on three levels, and BMU passed the highest level of accreditation. An accreditation expert group from ISPO comprehensively reviewed and evaluated the training objectives, curriculum, teachers, teaching conditions, student development, and practical ability of the prosthetic and orthotic engineering program of BMU from June 1 to July 6 this year.
The successful accreditation testifies that the training quality, infrastructure, and education resources of prosthetic and orthotic engineering in BMU meet the requirements for training of top professionals and the quality of undergraduate education at BMU has been internationally recognized. BMU graduates of this specialty meet the essential conditions for practicing and seeking further studies around the world. The accreditation has greatly improved the competitiveness in employment and the potential for the career development of BMU graduates. It also provided a rare opportunity for BMU to connect with international education, enhance its international competitiveness and achieve leap-forward development.
