Chen Yujiao from BMU Named a "Model Star of Chinese College Students' Self-Improvement" of 2021

Recently, the results of the Star of Chinese College Students' Self-Improvement scholarship applications of 2021 were announced. Chen Yujiao, from the School of Special Education of Binzhou Medical University (BMU), became one of the 10 winners of the Model Star scholarship in 2021 around the country and the only one in Shandong Province. The scholarship is jointly granted by China Youth Daily, New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc., and China Foundation for Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment with guidance from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the All-China Students' Federation.


Chen Yujiao is a student of grade 2020 in traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture and massage) at the School of Special Education of BMU. She did not give in to suffering caused by an earthquake, the loss of her father, blindness, and setbacks. After hard training, she was enlisted into the Sichuan Rope-Skipping Team. She has won more than 50 medals at various competitions and participated in two sessions of the National Games for Persons with Disabilities. She won 3 gold and 3 silver medals and received the Morality Award at the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities in 2021. She was admitted to BMU with excellent results in the national college admission examinations for students with disabilities in 2020. She set up a rope-skipping sports team at the university and carefully guided team members in training. The team won 11 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the 10th Yantai Games for Persons with Disabilities. She has been actively engaged in public welfare undertakings, donated blood many times, and joined the National Organ Transplant Volunteer Team. She is keen on innovation and entrepreneurship. The Be Your Eyes online service platform for visually impaired people initiated by her has been included in the Program for College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She loves makeup and photography and is ready to share knowledge with her classmates. She is a dancer in the dark performing with Chinese rhythms with skipping ropes. She is like a beam of light, illuminating, warming, and guiding more people to face life proactively. National and provincial mainstream media have frequent reports on her deeds. Remaining inspirational and optimistic, the girl is resolved to run harder and keep pursuing her poetical dreams in the future!

Chen Yujiao was awarded in rope-skipping games of the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities in 2021.

Incepted in 2007, the Star of Chinese College Students' Self-Improvement scholarship is open for application once a year. The theme of the scholarship of 2021 was Pledge to the Party on my part to the nation's rejuvenation to set examples of loving the motherland, having good conduct, defying difficulties, and striving for self-improvement among contemporary college students. 10 students received the Model Star of Chinese College Students' Self-Improvement scholarship and 1,842 received the Star of Chinese College Students' Self-Improvement scholarship.
