The grand 20th-anniversary celebration of the School of Public Health and Management of Binzhou Medical University (BMU) was held online through Tencent Conference at 8:30 a.m. on December 28. Leaders of BMU, together with guests, experts, and scholars from all over the world, acknowledged the achievements of the School of Public Health and Management, congratulated its 20th birthday, and expressed wishes for its long-term success. The school's 20th anniversary marked the preliminary success of the new model of public health + public management in the education of health talents.
Zhao Shengtian, President of BMU, Huang Yueqin, Vice Chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation and Honorary Dean of the School of Public Health and Management, Liu Zhimin, Head of the Innovation and Development Division of the School Planning and Development Center of the Ministry of Education, and Liu Xiaodong, Dean of the School of Public Health and Management of Wenzhou Medical University, delivered congratulation speeches. Wang Guangcheng, Vice President of BMU, attended the celebration. Zhao Jinggang, Vice President of BMU, hosted the ceremony. Zhang Yulong, Member of the CPC Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee of BMU, leaders and experts from brother universities, leaders and teachers from functional departments and schools (departments) of BMU, alumni of BMU, and representatives of teachers and students attended the celebration.
BMU Present Zhao Shengtian made a welcome speech on behalf of the university. He shared BMU's reform and development in recent years and fully affirmed the achievements made by the School of Public Health and Management in the past 20 years. He emphasized that we must give strategic priority to ensuring the people’s health and improve policies on promoting public health as required in the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, which shows the way for the development of public health and management and also guides us to train public health and management professionals. He noted that BMU will further strengthen its support for the School of Public Health and Management and its high-quality development in various undertakings.
In her speech, Huang Yueqin emotionally recalled his close ties with the school in the past 20 years. She hoped that the school, at a new starting point, will make persistent efforts and forge ahead to make greater contributions to the Healthy China initiative and the development of public health.
In his speech, Liu Zhimin noted that the achievements of the school in the past 20 years are not only the results of BMU serving people's health but also strategic breakthroughs as BMU keeps optimizing the discipline and professional structure. He hoped that BMU could better adapt education to regional strategies, the Healthy China initiative, and industrial development and combine it with data and intelligent features to make new breakthroughs in the development of BMU and its disciplines.
In his speech, Professor Liu Xiaodong expressed warm congratulations to the School of Public Health and Management on behalf of sister universities and hoped that both sides will, as always, work and develop together to achieve win-win results in the future and make joint efforts and contributions to the Healthy China initiative and improved public health system.
As the host, Zhao Jinggang hoped that the teachers and students of the school would gather together to deepen the connotation construction, improve the quality of education and make new and greater contributions to the development of medicine and health under the strong leadership and strong support of the university.
At the ceremony, Professor Cao Gaofang, Dean of the School of Public Health and Management, emotionally recalled the glorious days of the school together with its counterparts in the new century and new era. Hu Xihou, Fu Kunfeng, Jin Xianghui, Gai Liqi, Liu Dahua, and Cui Liangbo received the Health Management Contribution Awards, and Ding Kezhi and other 150 alumni were named Outstanding Alumni. Donations by alumni were also announced at the ceremony.
As the concluding event of the celebration, the video of the poetry recitation performed by the school's students was played to memorize the exciting moments, pioneering work, and innovations in the past 20 years and pass down the legacy to future generations.
