Days ago, the paper titled Colocolonic Intussusception (IF:176.079 ), with Dr. Li Jun from the School of Medical Imaging of BMU as the corresponding author and Yi Gaofeng from the Medical Imaging Department of Yantai Hospital Affiliated to BMU as the first author, was published in the top international journal The New England Journal of Medicine, graded as the top journal of medical part 1 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Intestinal intussusception is one of the acute diseases commonly seen in children with the ileocolon-type intestinal intussusception accounting for 70% to 80% as the most common type and the colon-type intestinal intussusception occupying less than 3% as a relatively rare type. This disease, caused by polyposis, Meckel's diverticula, intestinal duplication, etc., of which juvenile polyposis is the most common, may develop fast due to a lack of awareness. This study presents such a case with a satisfactory treatment effect, where the intussusceptum and intussuscipiens attributed to the colon-type intestinal intussusception and the intestinal canal target sign formed in the cross section are perfectly shown in the CT images processed with multi-planar reformation technology and treatment methods of air enema, reduction fixation and colon polypus ESD are applied. Ileocolon-type intestinal intussusception in children is usually idiopathic intestinal intussusception, while colon-type intestinal intussusception is usually accompanied by protopathy and easy to miss or mistaken. The longer intestinal intussusception exists, the longer the intussusceptum may be, and then intestinal necrosis is more likely to occur. Having a full understanding of the medical imageology manifestations of this sort of diseases and their causes is of clinical significance.
