The Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of Shandong Medical Ethics Society Founded at BMU

On March 25, the founding ceremony of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of the Shandong Medical Ethics Society was held in Binzhou Medical University (BMU). Chen Xiaoyang, President of the Shandong Medical Ethics Society, delivered a speech at the founding ceremony. Zhang Yulong, Executive Director of the society, and Member of CPC BMU Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of CPC BMU Committee delivered a welcome speech.  


Other attendants included Liu Xinsheng, former secretary of CPC Shandong Technology and Business University Committee, Zhou Shanshan, Member of CPC Shandong Technology and Business University Committee, President Assistant, and Director of the Internal Cooperation Office of the Ocean University of China, Su Chunjing, Vice President of Yantai Institute of Technology and Doctoral Supervisor of Shandong University, Wang Chunyuan, Vice Chairman of the Qingdao Federation of Social Sciences and Vice President of the Qingdao Academy of Social Sciences, and Ji Pengcheng, Director of the Editorial Department of Chinese Medical Ethics.

During his speech, Chen Xiaoyang introduced the recent reforms and developments of the Shandong Ethics Society and warmly congratulated the founding of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch. Chen Xiaoyang emphasized that the founding of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch will dramatically promote the development of rehabilitation medicine in the province. It is expected to promote standardized and humane rehabilitation medicine services and help achieve the value goal of everyone enjoys health and everyone with disabilities has access to rehabilitation medicine. By respecting patients and starting by improving the quality of their bodies, the branch should work to improve the quality of patients' lives and implement personalized, full-process rehabilitation services and management.

In his speech, Zhang Yulong introduced the profile, recent efforts, reforms, and developments of BMU, and its development feature of Two Advantages and Two Specialties. He noted that the study of medical ethics is an inevitable trend in the development of medical research. The founding of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of Medical Ethics is of great significance in enhancing ethical reviews for rehabilitation-related diseases, improving the knowledge of rehabilitation-related teachers and students on medical ethics, and conducting ethical reviews for related new clinical technologies and research projects. The founding of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch will undoubtedly enhance the ethical level of medical colleges and promote a scientific and rigorous work style to better protect the people's health rights and interests. Wei Qizhen, Director of the General Office of the Shandong Medical Ethics Society, hosted the ceremony and read out the Reply on Approval of Establishing Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of the Shandong Medical Ethics Society. Zhang Zhongbo, Deputy Director of the Disease Control Center in Changle County, Weifang City, gave a report on the preparatory work for the branch on behalf of the Preparatory Committee for the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch.


The 128 representatives who participated in the conference online or offline voted to elect the first directors and executive directors of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of the Shandong Medical Ethics Society. Liu Xinsheng and Su Chunjing were elected as honorary presidents of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch. Cui Liangbo, Secretary of the Party General Branch of School of Rehabilitation Medicine of BMU, was elected president of the branch. The vice presidents of the branch are Ma Ting, Secretary of the Party General Branch and Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wang Xizhen, Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of Weifang Medical University, Sun Jiancui, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Shandong First Medical University, Yan Xiaohong, Dean of the School of Society and Law of Shandong Women's University, Zhang Ying, Chairman of the Trade Union of Qingdao University, and Cui Baohua, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of Special Education of BMU. Nominated by the newly elected President Cui Liangbo, Li Wei is appointed the secretary-general of the first Council of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch, and Sha Kaihui, Zhang Zhongbo, and Han Dan are appointed the deputy secretaries-general of the council. Chen Xiaoyang presented letters of appointment to the newly elected honorary presidents, president, and vice presidents. Cui Liangbo, as the first president of the branch, presented letters of appointment to the newly elected secretary-general and deputy secretaries-general.

The first academic conference of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch was held at the venue. Chen Xiaoyang made a presentation titled Studying and Understanding Opinions on Strengthening Ethical Governance in Science and Technology. In his presentation, he systematically explained the connotation and extension of ethics and technological ethics, as well as the concepts of governance, ethical governance, and technological ethical governance. He referred to the view of prioritizing ethics and its basis. He dealt with the relationship between agile governance and strengthening early warning and tracking of risks related to scientific and technological ethics. He concluded with a summary on strengthening ethical research and standardization in the fields of medicine, life sciences, and artificial intelligence.


More than one hundred representatives from all over the country, leaders of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine, staff members of relevant departments, and student representatives participated in the conference online or offline.
