On May 7, the founding meeting of BMU Guangdong Alumni Association was held at the Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich Hotel. The meeting was conducted both in-person and through online live streaming. Sun Xiangjun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC BMU Committee, and Zhang Yulong, Member of the CPC BMU Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of BMU, attended the meeting. Alumni from the healthcare industry and various enterprises in Guangdong gathered together to reminisce about their time at BMU.
Before the establishment meeting, Che Xianli, Secretary of the CPC BMU Committee and his delegation visited the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center for learning and investigation. They also visited the preparation site of the meeting and inquired about the specific preparations in detail. They carefully examined the work details and emphasized the need to do their best to ensure the success of theestablishment meeting of the Guangdong Alumni Association. They expressed the importance of letting the flowers of benevolence and medical expertise bloom in the land of South China and contribute to the health and well-being of the people in the region.

At the establishment meeting, Sun Xiangjun delivered a speech on behalf of the university. He led the alumni to nostalgically review the university's eventful journey of over 70 years and shared the recent developments of the university. He expressed that the establishment of the Guangdong Alumni Association is not only a manifestation of the cohesion and centripetal force of all Guangdong alumni but also the sublimation of the spirit of BMU in Guangdong. It signifies that Guangdong alumni now have a platform to express their emotions, maintain friendships, exchange information, and collaborate together. He pointed out that the alumni association should be based on a shared culture as its spiritual core, aiming to connect and serve Guangdong alumni, and striving for a common vision. The goal is to create an alumni organization that is highly cohesive and united. He expressed his hope that the Guangdong Alumni Association and all alumni could take their alma mater as a spiritual harbor, and their fellow alumni as comrades in arms. He encouraged them to stay true to their original aspirations, uphold their core values, and work together in unity, making contributions to the success of alumni, the development of the alma mater, and the service of economic and social progress with the BMU Strength.

Newly elected President Mu Yonggao and Honorary President Li Kexiang of the Guangdong Alumni Association delivered speeches at the meeting. They sincerely expressed their gratitude for the cultivation of their alma mater and stated that the establishment of the alumni association is a significant event eagerly anticipated by the alumni. It is also a joyful and grand occasion in the process of the university’s construction and development. As former students of BMU, they have spent the most wonderful time of their lives at their alma mater, gaining knowledge and nurturing their character, which has benefited them for a lifetime. Taking the establishment of the Guangdong Alumni Association as an opportunity, they will further promote the university motto of Benevolent and Skillful in their future learning and work. They are determined to contribute their strength to the development of the medical and health care industry.

Alumnus Fu Jianfeng introduced the preparations for the establishment of the Guangdong Alumni Association. Bao Jianghua, Director of the Alumni Affairs Office, read out the Decision on the Membership List of the Guangdong Alumni Association of Binzhou Medical University. During the conference, the attending leaders and alumni watched congratulatory videos sent by Li Jianmin, professor at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, doctoral supervisor, and President of the Jinan Alumni Association, Song Lixin, an alumnus from the Class of 1978 and President of the North American Alumni Association and Zheng Houfeng, Head of an independent laboratory at Westlake University and Honorary President of the Zhejiang Alumni Association.
