BMU Achieves Excellent Results in Finals of 4th National Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Science Popularization Competition

The 4th Academic Annual Academic Meeting of the Physical Therapy Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong, from May 13 to 14, 2023. During the meeting, the finals of the 4th Xibei Cup National Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Science Popularization Competition was also held.


The work titled Smoking Harms the Heart, Rehabilitation Brings Peace guided by Teacher Jiang Ying from the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of BMU, and the team consisting of Li Shuting, Meng Weiran, Liu Dingrui, Cheng Wengao, and Li Weihao, won the first prize in the category of graphic and textual works. The work titled Awaiting Your Return after Childbirth, Still the Graceful Willow Waist guided by Teacher Zhu Jiahui, and the team consisting of Wang Yuting, Yang Guoying, Fan Xiaoye, Huang Wanyun, and Hu Ke, won the third prize in the category of graphic and textual works. The university received the Excellent Organization Award.

The award-winning work Smoking Harms the Heart, Rehabilitation Brings Peace presented the process of disease, medical treatment, rehabilitation, smoking cessation, and reintegration into society for patients with coronary heart disease, with smoking as the main causative factor. In the preliminary round, the work was presented in the form of comics, while in the final round, it was presented through speeches and sitcoms. It vividly and creatively showcased the journey of these patients, demonstrating its scientific rigor, inclusiveness, practicality, innovation, and entertainment value. The work received unanimous praise from experts and judges, earning it the first prize in the category of graphic and textual works. The award-winning work Awaiting Your Return after Childbirth, Still the Graceful Willow Waist presented the causes, concepts, precautions, treatment, and prevention of postpartum diastasis recti abdominis in a lively and visually engaging manner. In the preliminary round, the work was presented in the form of comics, while in the final round, it took the form of a sitcom. The work demonstrated its characteristics of being easily understandable, lively, innovative, and practical, earning it the third prize in the category of graphic and textual works at the final competition.


It is reported that this competition received over 300 science popularization works from more than 100 hospitals, schools, and institutions across 7 regions in the country. From the outstanding works selected from each region, 10 video works and 10 graphic and textual works were chosen to advance to the national finals. In the preliminary round of the regional competition, the university's works achieved first place and fourth place in the graphic and textual works category in the East China region.
