From August 25 to 28, the finals of “The Ninth Competition for Undergraduate on Innovation Research & Experimental Design in Basic Medical Sciences”, sponsored by the Basic Medicine Group of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Educational Institutions and organized by Army Medical University, came to an end in Chongqing. Four works of BMU were shortlisted for the national finals and stood out from 554 final works nationwide. Two of the four works won Silver Awards and two won Bronze Awards, which hit a record high. Besides, Binzhou Medical University won the Outstanding Organization Award of Colleges and Universities in the Undergraduate Group.
Among the four works, the work “Research on the Effect and Mechanism of NgR\RhoA\ROCK Signaling Pathway on Cognitive Function of Depression-like Mice”, completed by Yu Jiayu, Wu Haozhe and Zhu Baohang from The Second School of Clinical Medicine and Wang Zifeng and Jiang Bingzhen from The First School of Clinical Medicine under the guidance of teacher Jiang Rong of School of Basic Medical Sciences, won the Silver Award in the Basic Clinical Group; the work “Upconversion Based on Molecular Imprinting Technology-Study on the Detection of Ochratoxin A by Magnetic Materials”, completed by Wang Xinyu, Gao Zihang, Li Xiang and Zhang Yue from School of Public Health and Management under the guidance of teacher Li Ning from the same School, won the Silver Award in the Preventive Medicine Group; the work “Discussion on the Anti-Influenza Virus Effect of Pueraria Decoction Based on NS1 Protein Interference with Type I IFN Synthesis Pathway”, completed by Wang Xiuyi, Xu Jiaoyang, Yang Na, Sun Jie and Bian Xinru of School of Pharmacy (Wine School) under the guidance of teacher Geng Zikai from the same School, won the Bronze Award in the Basic Clinical Group; the work “Cloning of Perilla Linoleate Synthase and Its Application in the Construction of High-Yield Linoleic Acid Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Cell Factories”, completed by Gao Yuhang, Li Jiarong, Yan Huimin and Wen Yiwei from School of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine under the guidance of teacher An Tianyue and Wang Guoli from the same School, won the Bronze Award in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Group.
As one of the highest-level disciplinary competitions in China’s medical field, the Competition for Undergraduate on Innovation Research & Experimental Design in Basic Medical Sciences aims to further promote the comprehensive reform of medical education, make innovations in the medical practice teaching system and comprehensively enhance the spirit of primitive innovation and innovation ability of undergraduates. The Competition has been newly listed in the competition catalog of “2023 Competition Analysis Report for National College Students”, and is divided into five categories including Basic Medical Sciences and Clinics, Forensic Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Stomatology. The ninth Competition covers 235 colleges and universities in 31 provinces across the country, with 4,266 participating teams and a total of 21,044 students.
