On the morning of August 27, Vice President Tian Geng met with Donald B. Thomason, Dean of the Graduate School of the University of Tennessee, and Professor Gu Weikuan of the University of Tennessee. The heads of the Science and Technology Department and the Graduate School of BMU attended the meeting.
On behalf of Binzhou Medical University, Tian Geng extended a warm welcome to Donald B. Thomason and his delegation, and briefly introduced the history of the university's development, the construction of disciplines and specialties, and the reform of graduate education, focusing on the development pattern of “Two Advantages and Two Characteristics”. Donald B. Thomason introduced the basic situation of the University of Tennessee and its major achievements in graduate education. The two sides exchanged views on scientific research and innovation, and joint doctoral cultivation, etc., and unanimously expressed that Binzhou Medical University and the University of Tennessee have complementary strengths, high consistency, and a good basis for cooperation with a broad prospect. In the next step, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation based on their respective advantages and cooperate pragmatically in joint training of doctoral students, mutual recognition of credits, summer schools and joint scientific and technological research, to promote the high-quality development on both sides.
After the meeting, Donald B. Thomason and Professor Gu Weikuan visited some of the scientific research platforms of the Medical Research Center of BMU, and had exchanges and discussions with representatives of BMU graduate students.
