On August 27, Binzhou Medical University on the coast of the Yellow Sea and the bank of the Yellow River was lively and full of joy. More than 2,810 undergraduate new students and more than 800 graduate new students from 31 provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country arrived the Yantai campus and the Binzhou campus for registration. They were full of joy to join the big family of BMU.
At 7:00 in the morning, the university campus dressed in “new clothes” was particularly beautiful and tidy. Students from all over the country walked into the campus accompanied by their parents. School staff, student volunteers and teachers from various schools dressed in uniform helped 2023 incoming students to go through the registration procedures with full enthusiasm.
University leaders Che Xianli, Zhao Shengtian, Sun Xiangjun, Bai Xianyong, Lyu Changjun, Wang Guangcheng, Zhao Jinggang, Wang Peijie, Zhou Lianshun, and Zhang Yulong came to the registration site to check the registration and orientation of each school. They talked with the new students and their parents to understand their personal situation, ask for opinions and suggestions, and extend congratulations and welcome. They also asked the responsible personnel for the registration and arrangement of orientation as well as its characteristics in detail, and showed care for the teachers and student volunteers responsible for the orientation.

The activities and gifts such as “Parents’ Meeting”, “Growth Declaration” and “Handwritten Letter” were also prepared to bring each new student an unforgettable, vivid and meaningful ideological and political class as soon as they entered the university.

Teachers wrote blessings and encouraging messages to motivate students to study diligently and grow up happily. The university also prepared a Braille version of letter for the visually impaired students.

The First School of Clinical Medicine set up a “Top Rank” wall of honor at the orientation site, introducing the outstanding graduates who have been admitted to postgraduate studies at Peking University in the past two years, and encouraging new students to set ambitious goals and strive for it. The School also planned a series of orientation activities called “Braving the Wind and the Waves in the New Season”.
The School’s WeChat official account successively launched School Introduction, General Knowledge of Safety, Counselor Introduction, Campus Introduction, Admission Lists, Messages to New Students, etc., to help new students better adapt to the new semester; School of Stomatology, School of Public Health and Management, School of Pharmacy (Wine School), School of Special Education and other schools planned meetings with new students and their parents on the first day of the new semester, and comprehensively carried out education of professional cognition, patriotism, BMU history and situation, gratitude and motivation, and safety, etc., to help new students better understand and adapt to campus life as soon as possible.

This year, all units and schools closely linked BMU’s school-running characteristics, providing wonderful orientation activities such as “professional experience”, “career experience”, “growth planning” and “campus visit”. Various orientation activities were a comprehensive and whole-process demonstration of the motto of “Benevolent and Skillful” and culture of Binzhou Medical University, bringing the style and cultural flavor of the university to new students and their parents.

These future doctors also experienced the profession of doctor in advance through skills demonstration, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and blood type detection.

Multi-party Cooperation for Orientation, Warm Welcome to New Students
The university set up a number of working groups to prepare for the orientation, formulated a work plan, and held scheduling and arrangement meetings many times to effectively ensure that the orientation was comprehensive and warm, so that new students can feel the warmth of the big family of Binzhou Medical University when they entered the university for the first time.
It was worth mentioning that in the eye-catching “Warm Medical Moment” area at the north gate of the university, students from various associations were demonstrating their abilities. BMU’s Converged Media Center utilized the strengths of converged media and combined with off-campus platform to live broadcast the whole process of orientation on BMU’ s WeChat video account and Microblog account, leaving good memories for the new students and recording important moments in their lives. 400,000 people watched the live broadcast online that day.

2023 incoming students Hu Danning and Zhu Qiuyu from Clinical Medicine Class 4 of The First School of Clinical Medicine, had known each other for 14 years. They were in the same kindergarten, and accompanied each other as they grew up. They all chose Binzhou Medical University in college application and were admitted to the same profession and same class. They would join hands to pursue the medical dream.

Xu Jianfeng, Liu Jinze, and Meng Xiaotong from Jinan all studied in Fourth middle school, Zhangqiu District, Ji'nan. They chose Binzhou Medical University for its rigorous academic school spirit and a good prospect of disciplines of rehabilitation. They were admitted to Rehabilitation Therapy (Sino-German Cooperation) program of the university’s School of Rehabilitation Medicine.

This was the first year that BMU admitted students from Hong Kong, Macao and the Taiwan region.

“World Choir Games Gold Award”, “National Cheerleading Competition Champion”, “Provincial Art Performance Gold Award” ...This year, School of Special Education admitted a special group of talented students with disabilities. Li Zeming, a freshman majoring in Stomatology Technology (hearing impairment), proudly said, “Binzhou Medical University is my dream school, and now this dream has come true!” As a disabled sprinter in Chengdu, Li Zeming participated in various large-scale sports events all year round. Last year, he won the champion in National Cheerleading Competition (hearing impairment group). During the summer vacation, Li Zeming earned his own tuition fees. As the new semester was about to begin, he traveled all the way from Sichuan to Shandong by taking an ordinary train to go to Binzhou Medical University.
