On September 23 to 24, the Shandong Division of the Sixth SFLEP Cup National College Students' Intercultural Competence Contest was held at Shandong University of Technology. The contest's Shandong round was organized by the Shandong Undergraduate Education Teaching Steering Committee for General Foreign Language Discipline, Shandong Undergraduate Education Teaching Steering Committee for College Foreign Languages, and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. The team from BMU comprised of class-2021 students Wang Jiaxuan and Guo Jiayi from the First School of Clinical Medicine and Shang Zhihan from the Second School of Clinical Medicine. They stood out in the Shandong division by winning the special prize in the general undergraduate category and advanced to the national finals. BMU also won the Outstanding Organization Award.
The contest is a prestigious nationwide competition in the field of foreign language studies. On the theme of Upholding Cultural Confidence and Promoting International Understanding, it aims to tell China's stories and disseminate Chinese practices to showcase a real, multidimensional, and comprehensive view of China. The contest's agenda includes university-level rounds (preliminaries), provincial rounds (semi-finals and finals), and the national round (finals and grand finals). With teams from 50 universities, the Shandong division presented 3 special prizes, 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes, and 25 third prizes.
