BMU held onboarding training for 2023 new employees

From September 20 to 27, BMU organized onboarding training for new employees in 2023. President Huang Fei attended the training program's opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Peijie, Chair of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervisory Commissioner of Shandong Supervision Commission in BMU, gave a special report. All new faculty members and heads of relevant functions attended the opening ceremony.

Huang Fei first congratulated the new employees on their joining BMU on behalf of the university. He introduced the history and current state of higher medical education in Shandong Province, recounted the university's milestones, and highlighted the academic strengths, regional medical status, and developmental vision of the university and its affiliated hospitals. He emphasized the need for educators in medical universities to understand the developments and cultivation mechanisms in medical education.

He expressed his hope that the new employees would, firstly, learn to be morally upright and become high-caliber educators. He emphasized the importance of kindness, respect for teachers, and sincerity toward parents, leaders, colleagues, children, and students. Second, he urged them to learn to address challenges properly and improve their work capabilities. Teachers should thoroughly comprehend the laws of education and teaching, understand professional training programs, grasp the developments in curricula, and cultivate a research-oriented mindset, as he said. Third, he urged them to excel in academics and make achievements in their respective fields. They should align scientific research with the university's academic positioning of being based on research and application-oriented, become dual mentor-educators with characteristics, conduct research that accommodates local economic development needs, and contribute to the local economy. He hoped all new employees could take BMU as a new starting point to integrate into the university, achieve self-worth and ability improvement, contribute to cultivating outstanding human capital for healthcare and medical services, and make new and greater contributions to national rejuvenation!

In his report, Wang Peijie introduced the Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervisory  Commissioner's Office. He provided guidance to the new faculty and staff members on maintaining integrity in teaching and governance from three aspects: recognizing trends and firmly upholding integrity and self-discipline beliefs; keeping prudent and conscientiously observing the bottom line in professional conduct; staying true to the original aspiration and bravely shouldering the mission of moral cultivation and human capital development. He urged the new staff members to carry on the university motto of Benevolent and Skillful, maintain a favorable atmosphere of integrity at BMU, make progress together, and strive to build BMU into a high-level medical university!

Immediately following the opening ceremony, officials and teachers from Department of Human Resources (Teachers' Affairs Office), Academic Administration Office (Experimental Teaching Management Center), Department of Science and Technology (Medicine Research Center), The Graduate School of BMU, Teaching Quality Monitoring Office, Library, Network Information Center, and other departments gave special reports. They interpreted relevant policies on the departments' operations and management to help the new staff quickly become familiar with university conditions and better adapt and integrate into new work and life environments.


The one-week training schedule for new employees also included a visit to the Jiaodong Red Culture Exhibition Hall and the university's history museum, an exhibition on the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, lectures on professional ethics, and specialized workshops on improving teaching and research capabilities. All these facilitated exchange and communication between new employees and laid a solid foundation for them to improve their job competency and enhance their identification with the university.
