Recently, ARWU released The Best Chinese Academic Subjects Ranking of 2023. Four disciplines of BMU, including clinical medicine, pharmacy, basic medicine, and nursing are on the list, achieving a new breakthrough in the number of disciplines included in the list.
Among the disciplines on the list, BMU’s nursing ranks in the top 40%, pharmacy in the top 42%, clinical medicine in the top 44%, and basic medicine in the top 48%.
In recent years, BMU has closely focused on the major strategy of serving the country and Shandong Province and the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, giving full play to the leading role of existing high-level disciplines to propel other subject areas. We have optimized the layout of disciplines, innovated the development model, paid attention to disciplinary integration, and accurately implemented the “344” project for discipline construction. A multidisciplinary system of medicine, science, engineering, management and education has taken shape, with clinical medicine and pharmacy as advantages, and higher education for the disabled and higher education for rehabilitation as the special features.
The 5-index system of the Best Chinese Academic Subjects Ranking of 2023 includes talent cultivation, platform and projects, achievements and awards, academic publications, and high-end talents, including 18 indicators, and with a total of more than 70 observed variables that reflect discipline competitiveness. The ranking data are all from third-party data sources such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and international and domestic literature databases.
