On November 25, the national final of the reading event at the 2023 FLTRP·ETIC Cup Understanding Contemporary China National Foreign Language Contest for College Students came to a successful conclusion. Wang Siteng, a 2023-grade student from the Second School of Clinical Medicine of Binzhou Medical University (BMU), won a silver award in the reading event. His instructor was Associate Professor Wang Ying from School of International Studies.
The contest consisted of university-level preliminaries, provincial semi-finals, and the national finals. Wang Siteng stood out from over 1,000 contestants and won the first prize in the provincial semi-final, earning the qualification to compete in the national final. In the national final with nearly 2,000 participants, Wang Siteng again achieved an outstanding result by garnering a silver award, becoming the first student from BMU to win a national prize in this event.
The 2023 contest was hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University and organized by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP). As an important instrument to examine the efficacy of Inclusion in Textbook, Coverage in Classroom, and Ensured Understanding, the FLTRP·ETIC Cup events have become top events that are specialized and authoritative with ideological importance. On the theme of Understanding China, Communicating with the World, this year's contest encouraged the contestants to comprehend China's development path, elucidate China's governance, expound China's philosophy, and disseminate China's voice in light of China's national conditions and global development trends.
