BMU students win first prize in robotics+ event at 2023 National Industry-University Collaborative Innovation Contest

On December 10, the final of the robotics+ event of the First National Industry-University Collaborative Innovation Contest in 2023 was held at Soochow University. The project submitted by Binzhou Medical University, as the leading entity, in collaboration with Beihang University, stood out from the 48 finalist teams and proudly took second place among the first prize winners in the Robotics+ final and advanced to the national final of the 2023 National Industry-University Collaborative Innovation Contest.

The award-winning project Unmanned Medical Waste Collection Robot Based on Binocular Depth Vision Object Recognition and Positioning was jointly completed by BMU students Wang Zhao, Xu Wenhui, and Li Yanjin together with two Beihang University students under the guidance of BMU teachers Li Guqiang and Liu Chuncheng. Next, the project team will keep optimizing the project and go all out in preparing for the national final to be held at Tsinghua University at the end of December.


The First National Industry-University Collaborative Innovation Contest is co-organized by the China Center for Promotion of SME Development under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China International Cooperation Association of small and Medium Enterprises in collaboration with China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Talent Exchange and Service Center, and Committee on Industry-Education Integration of China Society of Educational Development Strategy, aiming to further effectively promote innovation cooperation between specialized small and medium-sized enterprises and universities in industry-university integration and science-education integration. The contest consisted of six area-specific events, namely robotics+, next-generation IT, new energy vehicles, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and digital twin.
