WP conducts accreditation of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program at BMU

On May 20-21, a team of experts from World Physiotherapy (WP) visited Binzhou Medical University (BMU) for accreditation of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program. Zhao Jinggang and Tian Geng, members of the Party committee and vice presidents of BMU, attended the welcoming and feedback sessions and walked the team around the campus.

Zhao Jinggang hosted the meeting and delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to the expert panel on behalf of BMU. In his speech, he noted that international accreditation of programs is a crucial means of evaluating the quality of university education, enhancing program development, and aligning higher education with international standards. He highlighted its significance as a vital pathway for internationalization, a robust external quality assurance mechanism, and a key factor in boosting BMU's international reputation and competitiveness. According to Zhao Jinggang, BMU is committed to the development of the Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program, which was the earliest Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy program in Shandong Province. BMU has established a comprehensive curriculum and created a diverse and multi-layered talent cultivation system, showcasing the university's deep-rooted educational values and care for lives. He expressed his hope that the accreditation could serve as a catalyst for comprehensively enhancing the performance of BMUs Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Program and other academic programs, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the university.

Vice President Tian Geng gave a presentation on the program. She started by introducing the university, then went on to delve deeper into the teaching facilities, faculty structure, practical education, and innovation and entrepreneurship efforts for the Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy program. She assured the accreditation team that the university would seize this opportunity of accreditation to align with international standards, diligently study the experts' feedback, and thoroughly implement corrective measures to improve the program. She further clarified the program's mission, positioning, training objectives, educational model, and quality standards. She underlined BMU's commitment to the program's development, management, and reform. BMU will keep enhancing the quality of talent cultivation, work to deliver a greater number of exceptional rehabilitation medical professionals for the country, and actively contribute to the comprehensive advancement of the Healthy China strategy, the development of the rehabilitation sector, and the well-being of persons with disabilities.

Following the welcoming session, the expert panel conducted an on-site inspection of the computer experimental teaching center, library, anatomy laboratory, physiology laboratory, School of Special Education and Rehabilitation, and teaching bases. They also interviewed specialty course instructors, course directors, heads of functional departments, clinical teaching instructors, and students, gaining a comprehensive understanding of BMU's Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy program.

On the afternoon of May 21, the feedback session for the program's accreditation was held in the meeting room on the ninth floor of BMU's office building. The expert panel recognized BMU's efforts in curriculum design, support, faculty development, and clinical practice within the Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy program. They provided detailed feedback on issues identified during the inspection. BMUs leaders attending the meeting pledged the university's commitment to utilizing the international education framework for physiotherapy as a guide, focusing on enhancing the job competence of physiotherapy professionals, adjusting the program structure and scale, optimizing talent cultivation models, strengthening clinical practice teaching, and cultivating a greater number of highly qualified, applied professionals for the rehabilitation sector.


Representatives from relevant functional departments, schools, the Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy program, teaching and research sections, and faculty and students participated in the meeting.
