On September 19th, Sun Xiangjun, Secretary of CPC BMU Party Committee, President Huang Fei, and Vice President Zhao Jinggang respectively met with Prof. Wang Huanyou, alumnus of Class of 1987 and winner of The Seventh Fok Ying-Tung Prize-The World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award.
During the meeting, Sun Xiangjun gave a detailed introduction about the development of BMU’s education and research in recent years. He expressed his sincere thanks to Wang Huanyou for Wang’s attention to the development of the university over the years, and hoped that Wang and BMU would continue to cooperate and create a new situation of high-quality development. Wang Huanyou expressed his excitement and joy of his returning to the Alma mater and marveled at the rapid development of BMU. He said that as a member of BMU, he would continue to contribute to its development. Wang Huanyou donated his works to the university, and Sun Xiangjun issued a donation certificate to Wang Huanyou .

After the meeting, Wang Huanyou visited BMU’s Science Museum of Life and Health and spoke highly of it. He gave an academic lecture entitled “Intertwined Journey of Practice and Research” for teachers and students. In the lecture, he introduced his journey from a clinical resident in pathology to his conducting of basic clinical integration research, and shared his experience of engaging in clinical work as well as his feelings of contributing himself to the scientific research.
During his visit, Wang Huanyou received an exclusive interview. He encouraged the BMU students to adhere to the motto of “benevolent and skillful”, to be courageous to challenge themselves, to keep on exploring new knowledge, and to strive to be useful for social development and scientific progress.
Wang Huanyou gave an academic lecture for teachers and students
Wang Huanyou graduated from Binzhou Medical University in 1987 majoring in Clinical Medicine. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Pathology at the School of Medicine, and Director of Subspecialization in Hematology and Lymphoma of the University of California San Diego. He won the Honorary Award of Chinese American Pathologists Association in 2021, and The Seventh Fok Ying-Tung Prize-The World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award in 2024. He is a pathologist who combines clinical, research and teaching expertise in the diagnoses of leukemia and lymphoma and the research on clinical and translational medicine. He is one of the few Chinese authors in the world invited to write the 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours, and one of the authors of the 8th edition of Williams Hematology, which is an authoritative textbook on hematology and lymphoma in the world.
