Recently, the results of The Stars of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students for 2023-2024 scholarship selection, guided by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, All-China Students' Federation, organized by China Youth Newspaper, New Oriental Education & Technology Group, and the China Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Foundation, were announced. Wu You, a student from BMU, was awarded the title of Self-improvement Star of Chinese College Students for 2023-2024.

This year's selection, themed Being Self-improved and Confident and taking responsibility, called upon young people to take responsibility in various fields, such as technological innovation, rural revitalization, green development, social services, and border defense, showcasing the ideals, courage, resilience, and dedication of Chinese youth in the new era. A total of 1,610 individuals, 100 scientific innovation groups, and 32 outstanding organizations were awarded.
Wu You, a member of CPC and an undergraduate student in the 2021 class of the School of Special Education and Rehabilitation, majoring in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture and Tuina), was diagnosed with congenital visual impairment. However, she has not stopped pursuing her dreams. She has been invited to share her growth story on Chasing Light Cinema of Guizhou Satellite TV and Youth Lecture Hall of Chengdu Network Publicity Department. She has received numerous honors from BMU, including Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre, Outstanding Communist Youth League Member, and Outstanding Student. She has also been awarded the Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship, university-level scholarships, and several national and provincial competition awards.
