Recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the Notice on Cultivating and Constructing Industrial Innovation Research Institutes (First Batch), officially announcing the first batch of 30 industrial innovation research institutes selected for cultivation and construction. The Yantai Biomedical Industrial Innovation Research Institute was successfully included in the first batch of provincial industrial innovation research institutes.
The Yantai Biomedical Industrial Innovation Research Institute is led by the Yantai Municipal Government and jointly established by BMU, the Yantai Market Supervision Administration, Yantai Biomedical Health Group Co., Ltd., the Shanghai Institute of TCM pharmocology (Yantai Branch), the People's Government of Yantai Laishan District, the People's Government of Yantai Muping District, Yantai International Biotech Park, Yantai Rongchang Pharmaceutical, and Yantai Luye Pharmaceutical. The institute leverages the BMU's predominant disciplines and regional resources to build a think tank + industry platform. It focuses on eight key areas: innovative drugs, medical devices, traditional Chinese medicine, special medical and health foods, medical aesthetics, and cell and gene therapy. The institute selects high-level research and innovation teams, establishes high-level communication platforms, explores new models of cooperation between universities, local governments, and enterprises, and collaboratively tackles key common technologies and transforms scientific achievements. It accelerates the maturation and industrialization of scientific achievements, empowering the high-quality development of biomedical industry of Yantai and Shandong.
The establishment of the Yantai Biomedical Industrial Innovation Research Institute is a strategic move by BMU to deeply integrate the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain in biomedicine. It serves as an innovative practice to deepen industry-university-research cooperation, promote the transformation of scientific achievements, and contribute to local economic and social development. The institute will undoubtedly propel Yantai's biomedical industry to new heights and inject strong momentum into the local economy. BMU will strengthen the high-level construction of the institute, focus on research directions and service orientations, further optimize and integrate BMU's advantageous resources, promote the construction of a platform-talent-project mechanism, enhance scientific research innovation capabilities, advance the output of scientific research achievements, and conduct high-level applied research and strategic consulting. This will continuously improve BMU's support and contribution to the high-quality development of biomedical industry of Yantai and Shandong.
