On October 12, 30 international student representatives from our university were invited to participate in the 2024 Shandong International Chinese Education Achievement Exhibition and Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Activity titled Savoring Yantai’s Excellence, Embracing Shared Beauty. The event was guided by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, organized by the Shandong Education Association for International Exchange, the International Chinese Education Alliance, and the International Student Education Management Branch, with support from the Yantai Higher Education Internationalization Alliance, the Yantai Translators Association, and hosted by Ludong University. Lu Tian, Deputy Director of the University’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Liu Zhiyong, Deputy Party Chief of the General Branch Committee, and all teachers from the International Student Management Office attended the event.

The activity consisted of two parts: the opening ceremony and the Shandong International Chinese Education Achievement Exhibition, followed by Intangible Cultural Heritage experience activity session. During the achievement show, over 50 Chinese and international students jointly presented a spectacular cultural performance. MPOFU THANDOLWENKOSI LISA (Lisa), an international student from Zimbabwe, performed the solo song Sea of Stars, which, with its inspiring lyrics and moving melody, showcased the young students’ pursuit of dreams and their beautiful aspirations for the future. Lisa’s heartfelt performance and standard Chinese pronunciation won warm applause from the audience. The Intangible Cultural Heritage experience activity session featured 32 national, provincial, and municipal intangible cultural heritage projects. International students actively participated, experiencing the unique charm of China’s intangible cultural heritage up close.

This event provided international students with a deeper understanding of the diversity and richness of Chinese culture, contributing to the advancement of international Chinese education, promoting cultural exchange between China and other countries, and enhancing friendship and understanding among people from different countries and regions.
