Recently, an 11-person delegation led by Honorable Bootii Nauan, Minister of Health and Medical Services of Kiribati, visited Binzhou Medical University (BMU). Sun Xiangjun, Secretary of CPC BMU Committee, met with the delegation in the university's office building, with Vice President Yu Li also in attendance.

On behalf of BMU, Sun Xiangjun extended a warm welcome to Minister Nauan and his delegation. He briefly introduced BMU's educational philosophy, distinctive features, and key achievements. Reviewing the collaboration between BMU and Kiribati in medical and health sector, he expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation in areas, such as medical talent cultivation and professional training for clinical skills training, with the goal of establishing a regular exchange mechanism. He conveyed BMU's commitment to jointly developing more cooperative initiatives with Kiribati in the field of medicine and health.
Minister Nauan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at BMU. He highly commended the exceptional medical skills and noble professional spirit demonstrated by the Chinese medical teams in Kiribati. He also fully acknowledged BMU and its affiliated hospital's contributions to medical education and talent development. He noted that the cooperation between China and Kiribati in medical and health sector has a solid foundation and broad prospects. He hoped that this visit would mark a new starting point for both sides to work together, promoting in-depth exchanges and practical collaboration in areas like healthcare and medical education, ultimately bringing greater benefit to the peoples of both countries.

On-site observation
During the visit, Minister Nauan and his delegation toured the BMU History Museum and the Special Education and Rehabilitation Exhibition Hall. They spoke highly of BMU's dedication to education, its social responsibility, and its remarkable achievements in the field of higher education for students with disabilities. The delegation also made a special visit to BMU's Yantai Affiliated Hospital to meet with members of the Chinese medical teams recently returned from Kiribati, expressing sincere thanks for their contributions to the health of Kiribati people. During the hospital visit, the delegation toured specialized departments, gaining detailed insights into the hospital's strengths in areas such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment, endoscopic techniques, and clinical skills training.
Officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government and Foreign Affairs Office of Yantai Municipal People's Government, representatives from BMU, and members of Chinese medical teams to Kiribati accompanied the delegation and participated in the events.
