Professor Huang Fei's Team Publishes Latest Research Findings in Top International Journal

2026-03-04

Recently, the latest research findings from Professor Huang Fei's team at BMU were accepted for publication in the top international journal Advanced Functional Materials (CAS Q1, TOP Journal, Impact Factor 19.0). This study constructed a bioactive conductive hydrogel with antioxidant and mitochondrial regulatory functions, providing a new strategy for the design of neural regeneration materials.

Spinal cord injury is a severe traumatic disease of the central nervous system. Persistent oxidative stress imbalance and mitochondrial dysfunction following injury significantly inhibit neuronal survival and axonal regeneration, which are key pathological factors restricting functional recovery. Addressing this core scientific question, the research team employed a cerium ion intercalation strategy to modulate the interface of Ti3C2Tx nanosheets, constructing a Ti3C2Tx-Ce conductive hydrogel system. This work constructs a functional neural repair strategy mediated by multifunctional biomaterials, offering new ideas for innovative material design in neural tissue engineering.

Postdoctoral fellow Wang Weikang, doctoral student Liu Qing, and Lv Ang, a 2023 graduate student from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, from the team are listed as co-first authors of the article. Professors Huang Fei, Zhang Luping, Li Liming, and Zhao Weiwei are the co-corresponding authors. This research was supported by projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, Yantai City-University Integration Project, and Youth Innovation Team Project of Shandong Province.
